Who is going skiing and where 2014?

I'm due to be in Cham next friday with the family but sod's law has dealt me a groin strain when raking my lawn after scarifying it ... I am praying for a quick recovery or the only thing I'll be doing is sunbathing, which is a treacherous pastime for a ginger.

Watching these chats with interest - heading out next Friday for 8 days in Val Thorens. From the sound of it we should be ok (village is at 2700 metres, runs go up to 3400 IIRC), still crossing fingers for some snow in the next week.

In conditions like that I usually wear ski pants and a T-shirt/base layer only. Or a thin shell jacket for early morning runs if it's still a bit nippy.

Currently in Meribel. It's losing it big-time to be honest, though there is talk of an inch or so at the weekend

Off to Verbier today......taking my 5yr old out for a Dad's n Lad's trip with a mate and his son. Not too worried about conditions as it's more of a fun trip than getting a load of skiing in.

Were going on Sunday - a friend who lives there and is ski instructor texted me yesterday - "there is still good snow on the piste even though it's very warm. Get up early!!"

So with young kids who probably couldn't ski all day it should be more than fine.

Nothing like doing seasons.

Back in the day I did four on the trot. Started in Norway in October and then to The Alps at the beginning of December through to Easter.

The benefits of having both Alpine and Nordic qualifications.

You'd be encouraging this behaviour, given your extreme ski tendencies - I have finally nailed 180s. Next year, 360 time. As there has been no snow since just aft you left, have spent most days in the park. Now wish I'd done it earlier in the season!
