JD, it varies from trip to trip, but I'm 41 and have no problems. They tend to get early 20's to mid 30's on the average from the trips I've attended.

Morgins for Christmas and New Year. Possibly Aspen in late January.

Currently applying for loads of ski technician seasonal jobs in France - think I've done about 6 or 7 today! Was meant to be doing a season in Whistler but have delayed that until next year.

Anyone need to employ a ski tech for the season!?

Full season in Argentiere, Chamonix, this winter. Heading out there next weekend to renovate the new shack.

Does anyone know of a chalet to rent in La Clusaz, Les Gets, Morzine or Avoriaz - suitable for 5 adults, 4 children?
We're 2 couples, each with 2 children + 1 au pair.... Looking for 1 week from Sat 15Feb.
OR, a chalet that has 2-3 apartments in it that we could rent 2 of?

Thanks if anyone has a link, or knows an owner they can PM to me. thumbup
We've used this site before to find things http://www.aravis-vacances.fr/en/locations/index.h...

Have rented Chalet Vigorin from it - we were 8 pers, two families of 4 and I've just looked there's only 4 bedrooms so may not be for you.

No idea yet. Have done St Anton for the past two years but the skiing/apres was great. Trying to steer clear of France as the prices are just silly now. Maybe Canada again?

One of the best. Not many places can top it IMO. Probably not ideal/wasted o beginers.
Thanks mate. I'm fairly experienced - can take on blacks no real issues.

However, will probably spend most of my time on blades. Rented them out last time and had such a good laugh on them. smile
Have one of these getmecoat

When I was younger in Austria, as a group of kids learning someone asked, wow what are those really short skis for? The instructors answer was “those are for when you’re too scared to tell your dad that you’re gay.” Kind of stuck with me ever since.

I’ll be honest I don’t really get blades since the introduction and development of parabolic shaped skis, they seem to let people get out and about quicker than on normal skis which isn’t necerrasily a good thing. TBH I don’t really see that many people out and about on them.

As an instructor I’d just tell people they’ll inhibit your technique and development as a skier.

But it’s about having fun at the end of the day.

Can anyone suggest a decent short break ski trip company. I want to go away over New Year but only for 3 or 4 days. The default option is Les Gets / Morzine but I have been there the last three years and fancy something else.

Feb half term, off to Jahorina in Bosnia again (near Sarajevo - the resort has a few runs which were used in the 1984 Winter Olympics).

Cheers for that. I'll ask SWMBO, who's planning this, to have a butchers.

Booked. Les Deux Alpes (we've been once before) over New Year smile

Can't wait now, as we missed out on skiing this season just past.

Family trip to Courcheval with Esprit at half term - daughter loves the esprit holidays, and a boys trip off to Breckenridge beginning of March. Used to live in Denver so looking forward to going back, lots of choice with Vail, Copper, Keystone and A-Basin all an easy drive.

Here's hoping for another decent winter in the highlands too.

Been twice - it's great. How is the snow / weather at that time? I've always been in march - warm and clear and good snow at the top and middle but can't ski right down really. Not really snowed whilst there either.
Never complained tho.

Always just rented an apartment too - cheap there.

Hoping to try Austria in march tho.

I don't take my skiing seriously. I'm a decent enough skier, but don't do it regularly enough or overly bothered about honing my skills to be better.

I swapped out my carvers for some blades last year for what was only meant to be a day and they were great fun - sure you can't go as fast on blades tbh but it makes jumps easier to manage and they're just really easy to get on with and I find them more fun.

Give it a go. wink

Exactly the same - I bought a pair of blades in 2003 for a bit of a laugh and, since then, I've done about 80% of my skiing on them. I only really use skis when I'm going into powder.

Last season, over 3 trips, I put my skis on once & that was to do the St Anton - Lech run.

Are you using blades with non release bindings? If so its just a matter until you hurt yourself. My knee ligaments are testament to that.

Snow _should_ be fine that time of year. I think the last time (only time) we went there it was March/April or so.. Good snow most places, but getting back to the Hotel was a bit tough, as it was getting thin. Hoping that at NY it should be nice and cold, so lots of snow cover.

Thinking about going back to New Hampshire in the new year as I really enjoyed it a couple of years ago.

Surprisingly cheap to fly to the US compared to Europe.

For Morzine, have a look at jackandjillholidays.com - very decent quality chalets and the hosts/owners, Jamie & Mary, are lovely people. I haven't worked out the logistics of your group but they're of approx the right size, and very very comfortable. Chalet St Martin is a LOT nicer inside than it looks from outside! One is on the outskirts of Morzine, the other in Montriond, but they're very relaxed about running you around, even after dinner.
