Hi folks, i purchased a single annual travel insurance policy which ran out a couple of days ago. I am still away travelling and need new cover. From the ones i've found on the web you have to start and end the trip at your 'home'. Now obviously i'm away still and don't want to buy a policy which might not pay out due to a misunderstanding especially if its a seriously medical issue.

I am waiting for a reply from my current insurers asking whether they can extend or do something but in the meantime are there any travel insurance folk out there who might be able to help ??

Yeah,yeah, i know - worst i'm still away travelling thread ever !!

BTW - didn't stick it in the Travel section as might not be answered quickly !!

Who do you bank with? Some have an account you can upgrade to that includes worldwide travel insurance on. We have a joint one with the Halifax for £10/month - includes breakdown and mobile phone insurance too.

Have you tried worldnomads.com? Believe they offer new policies even if you've already begun your holiday.

Do this with Lloyds, can upgrade to a paid account online and then down grade again once you no longer need the cover.

It will be expensive that way unfortunately, hopefully your current insurers will come up with something, otherwise I would just bite the bullet and enjoy the rest of the holiday with the expensive peace of mind.

I believe it was worldnomads that offered my parents decent travel insurance despite the fact they were resident in Spain at the time they flew out of the UK for a long holiday in NZ. That wasn't cheap, but you hopefully don't suffer my mother's heart and blood pressure problems smile

My annual policy would cover a holiday if the policy lapsed before my return home. For the very reason you state - a new policy probably wouldn't cover a trip that was mid-term.
Are we just talking about a 7 or 14 day holiday here or something more?
