Since we had kids we havent actually been abroad whilst they were all little ones ( apart from the honeymoon in Newyork without them lol )we have been to centre parks and the lake district many times instead..
So just doing made up man maths in my head I calculated 4k costs (with no research whatsoever...) for a family holiday
for next year and I promised somewhere hot, villa, pool, waterpark and beaches nearby.. Great.. 3 kids and the wife happy..
Then start to look at booking and prices in the school holiday period....
fk me!
2 weeks in Costa Dorada is coming in at 8k including villa, flights booked in advance with budget airline, hire car and waterpark passes for one week and that isnt including food and spending money surely I have made some schoolboy error in my calculations..

I can recommend JamesVillas, there are some good deals available if you are not too fussy about destination. Certainly less than £8k!So just doing made up man maths in my head I calculated 4k costs (with no research whatsoever...) for a family holiday

Sounds a lot but then I tentatively had a look for two weeks in the sun for June time as it's our last chance to go during term time as our eldest will be starting school in September. For a nice resort on a Greek island, lots of pools and stuff for the kids, and all-inclusive as I want it to be minimum hassle, was looking at £4k for that.
Understand why we had two weeks in the caravan every year when we were kids
