I'm ignoring the England bit and replacing it with 'Britain'.

Ynys Llanddwyn/Llanddwyn Island - Anglesey
Parys Mountain copper mine - Anglesey again
Snowdonia
Some more Snowdonia
And I'm going to get stick for this - Liverpool docks, I like the atmosphere smile

Open to suggestions for the rest!

The Anchor pub in Cambridge

I lived just over the road for three years, and went in there on my first date with my now wife (after noodles at Dojo, which has sadly moved/gone).

Sennen Cove.
Valley of rocks.
Plym Valley.
Wast water.
Inglebourough limestone pavement.
Stanage edge.
Keilder Water.
Dartmoor.
Canterbury Cathedral.

To be fair most of these are climbing venues I enjoyed over the years.

Glastonbury, the village and the ruins - and climb up the Tor - stunning.
Also the Avebury standing stones nearby.

What's wrong with London, lot's to see and do,we are going up this weekend to Portobello Road to have a look round then on to Regent Park leave the car and walk to St John Wood and a meal in one of the many small restaurant in the area,We have over the years walked most the Thames from the flood barrier at Woolwich, lovly chinese next to the Royal Albert Dock, though the city to Kingston Upon Thames,It's only taken us 20 years to get that far,to many places we like to go back to normanlly for food and drink, little cafe next to Kew Bridge, the pubs at Strand on the Green, you can walk both banks now and there's loads going on,there's 10 places just in this small part of london, and some with free parking as in Putney and Twickenham, takes some finding and the right day mostly Saturdays and Sundays.

In no particular order.....

Whitby / RHB - one of the most beautiful places in our land.
London - staying in The Gore Hotel - go to the right places and it's a great city.
Kirby Lonsdale - Cumbrian countryside and walks.
Shorpe - then when you go anywhere else, you'll feel lucky.
Ambleside - Lakes scenery.
Ladybower Reservoir - don't know why, it's just a really nice place for a picnic.
York - old stuff and the Railway museum.

Places to avoid - Wales. Scotland.
Having lived in London, the Lake District and the Scottish Highlands, you miss the point and the best in all three places wink

I always find it funny when PHers answer a question that hasn't been asked.
It hasn't been asked to offer opinions, either way, about anywhere outside England.

Quite. Like most Americans, people seem to think GB is England. No surprise really, but in doing so, they miss some of the best bits

Norwich is really nice
Have to agree, went there for the first time on Saturday and really enjoyed the place. A really nice vibe with interesting shops and places to eat. smile
I'm originally a Midlander and came over this way 13+ years ago. I really quite like Norwich. Reminds me of Worcester 15 years ago. I just hope that in 15 years time it isn't like the sthole Worcester has become.

Yes, that explains why the property is so cheap. And also why billionaires who could live anywhere choose not to live in London in greater numbers than anywhere else.

You've really nailed it.

Before we get into an argument about how wonderful London is (that has been done so many times on here)... let us just say... As cities go London is right up there. Fantastic sights, architecture, heritage etc. (I lived there for 30 years). But as places go (clean air, crime, congestion, angst, smell, costs, rip off, etc) It is probably the worst place in the UK to visit.

So it's the best and the worst. Just depends what you are after. It's the best city I would recommend. The last place I want to be.

One could say the same of the Scottish Highlands....for natural beauty, otters, mountains, lakes and clean air, fantastic. But for museums, opera houses, night clubs, getting around by public transport and neon, it's a complete let down.
