Airbnb/Apartment Rent in Los Angeles? Any Airbnb experience?
Discussion
I'm heading out to Los Angeles for two weeks with family for a birthday, previously we would just set up shop at a Hotel near LAX, hire a car and travel around from there. It's worked well in the past but I've recently looked at Apartments..
You can get a two bedroom apartment in West Holywood/Wilshire/Beverly Hills area for less than the cost of two hotel rooms. This would include parking and is just beside The Grove shopping area which may mean less travelling around.
It would still be used primarily as base, and we would still be hiring a car.. I think it would be nice to have somewhere to retreat to or have breakfast, that isn't is a hotel room.
I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with renting an apartment - good or bad - as the reviews appear to be quite good, and the landlords generally accommodating with arrival time etc.

I've used airbnb a few times, but not in the US. I've used it in Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland and never had a problem. I much prefer it to hotels to be honest. I've also used serviced apartments in the U.S. and Australia. You tend to get a bit more room/flexibility than a hotel and usually cheaper. Airbnb still wins on price and local knowledge for me and the reviews have always been spot on.
I search has brought me to this post.
We're heading out to Las Vegas in April followed by a bit of a road trip to LA and San Diego then a week in Orlando.
Accommodation sorted in LV and Orlando but looking closely at Airbnb for the 2 nights in LA and 2 in San Diego.
OP, did you use Airbnb and how was your experience? Only me and the OH so no kids to consider, we just need a bit of a base.

Spent a night in an amazing ($1m+) apartment in Venice beach and 3 nights in one off sunset in west Hollywood. Both via Airbnb and both great experiences.
I've used Airbnb about a dozen times now, never had a bad experience. Quite the opposite in fact, normally end up eating/drinking very well on the hosts recommendations etc.
