American Cemetery, Normandy

I know what you mean,I got quite overcome just walking around the place.Thousands of tourists visit but when your there you could hear a pin drop, only the sea crashing on the shore.
Its also so immaculate, you would think someone had been clipping the grass by hand, nothing is out of place.
Its even more sobering when you see the numbers and ages of the guys, some were just kids.Over nine thousand graves and a monument to another two thousand or so that they never found.

Agreed, considering the footfall it must be a mammoth task to keep it that way especially, dare I say it, in France where "rural" tends to be the order of the day. And the German Cemetery at Organdes nearby is worth a look.
