Anyone heading to PDS today is going to have a lot of fun. Just left my apartment to head home and had to walk through knee deep powder to get to the taxi, and I'm 6'4" so my knees are quite high!
Worst time to be leaving a ski resort especially after having an awful week myself.
Ahhh that sucks. Feel for you man. Worst time to be leaving a ski resort especially after having an awful week myself.
Woo hoo - I will go to the ball!
After my wife broke her knee in Zermatt last year, I feared this might be the first year in over 30 that I didn't ski, but I booked my grown up daughter and me a 5 day break in Garmisch in early March over the weekend.
OK, a bit of a gamble snow-wise (although it's the best time of year historically), but I've been saying for years that I fancied going back to Garmisch (we used to ski there fairly often when we live in Munich for a while) and a short break seemed the ideal opportunity.
Early morning flight to Munich, rental car down to Garmisch and hopefully a few days skiing before returning to Munich airport for an evening flight home.
Along with another short break planned to Naples in June, the UK winter is suddenly looking less bleak.

Yeah - Off to La Plagne tomorrow!
I can't wait to finally get my season underway.
Glad that I avoided the early season drought, but it's still been a real long wait.
I've also booked the bobsleigh run, so really excited about another new adrenaline experience.
I did the bobsleigh run in the 4 man bob nearly two years ago on my 65th birthday, I've done a few exiting things over the years but this was the most thrilling mad thing I've ever done and will probably do it again one day, you'll love it and don't forget to buy the video, I still look at mine regularly.I can't wait to finally get my season underway.

Just did my online checkin for our trip to Garmisch in mid Feb (via Innsbruck; we get the train to Garmisch). Been there for the last 3 years in a row after not being there for about 5 years. Love the skiing, the place, the people and the food. After my wife broke her knee in Zermatt last year, I feared this might be the first year in over 30 that I didn't ski, but I booked my grown up daughter and me a 5 day break in Garmisch in early March over the weekend.

Conditions look perfect for the coming week; sunny after some recent snowfall. Can't wait!
I am just back from a week in courchevel 1650 and have to say it was amazing, the sun, the snow, the pistes..... was pretty much perfection for a weeks piste skiing.
some of the heavily trafficked areas (busy piste junctions/ crossovers) were starting to show how little snow cover there is, but what the whole area have achieved with snow cannons and 1 reasonable dump is pretty spectacular.
the off-piste was super tracked out within 2/3 days, but we had an instructor who had taken clients for some decent offpiste days, she said just had to watch as there was no base under the powder.
the only thing I noticed was- the whole of courchevel is getting more and more expensive. Now I know its hardly the cheapest place in the world, but even the reasonably priced places seem to shutting down or changing to much pricier establishments. in 1650 the snack bar at the bottom lift station on the piste is now closed and a fancy place, rockies on the main street now completely refurbed and a fancy restaurant/ bar.

We go here

We have a flat in Juan les Pins by the beach, so if you get really lucky you can have bright sunshine sitting by the beach - my son (7) was in the sea last December, but it was too cold for me, and then the following day an hours drive to go skiing.
Not a great resort for a good skier but works fine for little people learning
