Ok, this could be an easy one, or not.

This place, given it's location, has a surprising number of well preserved examples of buildings from a specific era (and others, but this one is of note) and is officially recognised for this.

It is in Germany,

A good distance further south than Hamburg, but not as far as Konstanz. They won't be celebrating Oktoberfest, as it isn't that corner of Germany, and in fact the place is better known for a different beverage.

Gong to chuck in Ludwigshafen then (SP?) I know they had some vineyards around there and Mannheim. Long time ago now.
