A bit of a stab in the dark, maybe the H refers to Homer, backed up by the sea. on the stones. A bit of google foo seems to suggest Chios as a place Homer may have been born or lived. Please note I have not Googles the actual picture...yet.

Just had a lightbulb moment. They're zodiac symbols. Waves is Aquarius, "H" is Pisces, etc...

All the Marble in Sadam's palace came from here, which is what the island is mostly known for, it's pure white marble.
