I was wondering when a local would turn up hehe

A remarkable site when it looms up in front of you as you drive in along Mareham (sp?) Road, and one which deserves saving. I'd have got in and had a wander, but the guard dog would have liked that too, I thought.

They had a big fire there many years ago but now looks if it is going to be redeveloped
into apartments.

That would be good, but it's absolutely huge, so it would be some development, and there is an element of how many people you could attract to live there, as it's not really very close to anywhere, iyswim.

With some vision and a mixed use development it could be fantastic for the town though. There's a model not too far away, after all:

Are we somewhere in Belgium on the site of one of the WW1 battlefields perhaps - soldier made from the detritus of war, maybe?

Doesn't look like the ironworks centre Nr Oswestry but very much like a lot of the excellent stuff they make there.

Can see lots of tents in the background and a hint of a vintage truck up near the sculpture's crotch.

Is this a permanent installation or an exhibition of some sort?

Looks like reenactment of some kind going on. I particularly like the clutch cover plate as the 'heart'!

It's not something like the Dorset Steam Fair, or suchlike?

Yes, spot on Dorset steam rally.
They had trenches, vehicles, guns, re-enactment etc for all 4 years of the 100th anniversary on the Great War. Very impressive it was too.
Your go.

Kenty, just to avoid me going la-la wondering, is that building in shot down adjacent to the main road, with the hill behind it, as the showground lies, when viewed by someone driving past in 2017 on the way to Dorchester?

I doubt you can see that area from the road, unless you stopped and had binoculars. In comparison to the rest of the site it is quite small.
