A cheap week in the UK
Discussion
Mrs aaz01 is pregnant and doesn't feel comfortable flying, which is fair enough. So we're looking for a week somewhere in the UK.
We prefer independence, don't need any entertainment provided for us. Just somewhere to get away from stressful jobs and house renovations for a week. Our favourite holidays were renting villas somewhere hot with private pools.
Budget - as low as possible, really. After having to convert bits of the house to be suitable for a baby, there's not much left, so we need to keep costs down.
I've never had a UK holiday before so have no clue what's available or possible! Ideally within one day's drive from Glasgow - although I think that includes the whole of the UK if I drive fast enough.
Suggestions?

Lovely holiday cottage in Yorkshire. Perfect for a couple, probably could, with a travel cot, also accommodate a very young 'un.We prefer independence, don't need any entertainment provided for us. I'm not the owner, but I've stayed there many times. http://www.westburncottage.co.uk/Westburn_Cottage/
Won't cost you too much to get there. Not too expensive for a week away. The area is lovely. There's a pub within walking distance, and just a little further away a fine village with a waterfall.

Lots of self-catering places available in the Lake District - easy reach from Glasgow and a beautiful place to relax.
I'd echo the self catering idea, we've stayed in them from the south coast to the Lake District. This one, in Yorkshire, was one of the most enjoyable: https://www.theholidaycottages.co.uk/north-yorkshi...Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
