I will be spending a week in Singapore in October, at a stag party. Any recommendations of what to do? it's not really somewhere I ever thought of going.

P.S attendees are all mid-40s and haven't had a proper night out in 10 years, so it won't be like it used to be...

Singapore City is a really nice place.
I enjoyed a few hours at the Raffles Hotel Long Bar. The Singapore Sling wasn't cheap at S$36,- drink
Marina Bay Sands roof top is a good too.

How long are you going for? If you have time for some gentle outdoor activity, hire some bikes in the west coast park and cycle to Changi and return. The hire shop we hired from had a handily placed bar/restaurant with a good selection of beers - a nice way to refresh after the exercise in the sweltering heat!

Possibly not what you're looking for but Singapore Zoo is fantastic.

Clark quay is one of the best places to eat and drink, can get a boat trip etc. I suggest you look at Viatour and see what is on offer and plan you week. You don't have to use Viatour but they are reliable and reasonably priced. There is an open top bus trip and well worth it.

Of course, I meant the east coast park beer

Ah, the old 4 floors of wes biggrin

Top Tip: In the bars on the top floor, when they say "I'm a lady", that's probably not entirely accurate silly

All sounds great, thanks. I think we are going to spend on day on motocross bikes on Malaysian dirt roads, otherwise nothing much planned.
I'll avoid the four floors of wes, of course.

Can you time it so it coincides with the Singapore Grand Prix? (I think this might be in September though)

As others have said, Clarke Quay is great, as is the zoo and the island to the south.
I was going to suggest the botanical gardens as worth a visit too, until I read the stag do bit!

Other suggestion would be to get a load of the cycle rickshaw taxis together and have a race to a bar or something- prizes/forfeits based on the fitness and stamina of your taxi rider.

Chinatown worth visiting too

Something different? The Kranji War Cemetery.
I found my uncle's details in the cross-reference books at the entrance and his name on the huge memorial. No-one in the family had any idea of exactly what happened to his body, just that he died in the Far East. Spine chilling moment.

Ferry across to Pulau Ubin and hire bikes for a ride around the island. It's supposedly how Singapore was, years ago. Nice day trip out, wild hogs, exotic birds (not that sort..) etc.

We took a ferry to Bintan (Indonesian Island) for a day of golf - you can book an all inclusive package including clubs, electric cart, caddy, lunch etc - well worth the relatively low cost for a day out.

Some of my thoughts as an ex resident.

Altitude Bar for sundowners. Highest alfresco bar in the world. You need to book and closed when wet. Also Level 33 with it's on brewery on the 33rd floor of the Stan Chart. Building - both these in the financial district.
Brewerkz in Clarke Quay - another with a brewery or Paulaner Brewhouse. Any Starker bar where you buy your own 5litre barrel at the bar and the staff give you ice chilled glasses all the time to keep it cool. Sorry bit of a theme here !!

Boat Quay best avoided if you don't want to be ripped off. Lots of promises of free beer but you then get overcharged for the crab etc. I'll make an exception for the curry house called Our Village which is hidden here upstairs. Great food, price and view. Lots more bars (hostess style) behind here on Circular Road.

Dempsey (all the original British barrack buildings converted to create a Covent Garden type experience) has a great selection of bars and restaurants as does Holland Village which away from the tourists and therefore cheaper. Sami's Indian is at Dempsey which is an old fashioned eatery with good food.

Eat at a Hawker Centre for cheap food. Taxis cheap.

Guess you'll do Raffles but overrated and expensive for what it is. If you blag your way into the Singapore Cricket Club - nice slice of colonial nostalgia. Sentosa Cove also good for sundowners.

Have a great week

yes Very humid.

Most of the old RAF camp at Changi is still there (or was last time I was there) All the old British names seem a bit incongruous. My Dad did his national service there so I found it quite nostalgic. Raffles is a must, even if just for a drink. I stayed on Sentosa at the Shangri-la the last few times I went. There are worse places to be holed up on business ..
