Somewhere good to go in February
Discussion
Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a good place for a short(ish) break - somewhere between say 4-7 days or so - in early February.
No specific requirements but the wife's not into busy cities so likes of NYC out. I quite fancy Tokyo but again too busy.
I'm now thinking Iceland or Norway. Just somewhere quiet with stuff to see and places to visit and somewhere slightly out of the ordinary from the usual 'short breaks'.
Any thoughts?

If you are thinking of heading North, how about Stockholm? Probably my favourite city.
While in Stockholm, day trips by boat in the Stockholm archipelago to some of the outer islands run all year. Gamlastan (old town) is nice to stroll around. Vasa museum is wicked.
From Stockholm, take the overnight ferry to Helsinki through the Stockholm archipelago ? Or ferry to Tallinn in Estonia.

You won't see much as it'll be dark most of the time.
Yes - probably March/ April is a better time to come to Norway as you can still have a chance of seeing the northern lights, but have a lot more daylight to do something the rest of the time. Do remember there is a big variation in when spring/ light arrives as it is a long country. You won't see much as it'll be dark most of the time.
Check out pictures of Lofoten if you want to do something different - a lot of Norwegians regard it as the most beautiful part of the country and far fewer tourists than further south. But winter is probably not the best time to do it. It's mostly about ourdoor life so unless you have winter experience I wouldn't recommend it.
