when you say shortly when do you mean? as far as I know the pool parties have all just ended, and some hotels even shut their pools now.

Mandalay bay is an ok choice, a little out of the way but not bad. Annoyingly being an mgm property they now charge for parking.
I'm going at the end of August next year, I meant I was booking it shortly smile I also won't be doing car hire so parking charges don't bother me.

Was also going to suggest Mandalay. Large Casino, great pools and also beach clubs. Top end of the strip, with a free monorail past Luxor to Excalibur, or just grab a cab....

On a Saturday night visit Freemont Street for a different and wilder experience.

Or walk....it's pretty much all indoors wink

Freemont Street is a >must<. Get a cab downtown. Google it for a taster.

Earlier this year I think. Don't worry they give you free water with it smile It's the Valet drivers I feel sorry for. I suspect the tips took a beating with the change.

I stayed at the Aria - really good. Wasn't too pricey if I remember correctly either.

Bellagio or Caesars Palace. Planet holyywood has some awesome themed suites. A friend had the Die Hard suite with lots of props from the films etc.

Aria, was there 2 weeks ago. Great location in the central strip, good restaurants there and nearby.

Don't get a cab anywhere they're ridiculously expensive. Uber is your friend, so cheap, the aria always have a couple waiting at the north entrance which is handy.

I'm going there in Jamuary for a stag do. It's pretty common I think.

I have stayed at The Linq or Imperial Palace as it was when I went. Good location. Bang in the middle of the strip opposite Ceasars Palace. Low cost hotel that does the job.

Planet Hollywood.

In the middle of strip, cheap, but clean, and at 05:00 in the morning when you can't sleep (as it is impossible to sleep in Vegas!) you can go and watch the Pleasure Pit girls whilst having a drink, and spending more money.

I went with family (for my wedding) to PH and always said if I went back with the boys I would stay there. If I went back with the Mrs, I would stay somewhere else. I know people that have been on stag do's and thought somewhere like Hooters hotel would be great (just behind the strip), but it was bad. Really bad. So bad and dirty they had to change hotels.

Also you are asking about it on PH, so perhaps an appropriate answer to stay in PH.
Planet Hollywood is at the top of my list at the moment, just looking to do as much research as possible before committing. I've also read some bad reviews on trip advisor saying it is getting a bit tired and dated.
Was at PH earlier in the year, as described great location and excellent value for money, it's perfect for a stag do, didn't feel tired to me.

$20 trick....guys did this actually get you an upgrade?

I went last year and read about it but didn't know anyone who actually did it. So we didn't bother, stayed at the Bellagio and asked if there were any upgrade at check in, she said let me check and gave us a fountain view room instead of the deluxe non fountain view room we paid for.

I would stay their again. It as fantastic, getting old etc but still amazing. To be fair, most were getting my old like ceasers, mirage, Paris but they are still looked after and very clean.

The club in bellagio is really smart too, was called HYDE and the Hakkasan at MGM was even bigger and better. Enjoy!

Yep we did. Normal room upgraded to a front suite looking over the fountains.

you can check here for sucess rates:

http://www.frontdesktip.com/

worth noting that short trips on non busy weekends are always easiest, and the MOST important thing is that you know what room category to hint that you want. In my opinion, a view is NOT an upgrade. Look at and learn room categories before you do the trick.

It's part of why the average wedding now costs well into 5 figures smile

Me and some mates had a pizza and a pub crawl in Farnham and then got back on the train to my place (OK, it was 26 years ago...)

I've since been to Vegas and I'm glad I didn't spend the money on going there for my stag do! biggrin
