I'm in Brussels next month, I'm meeting the other half for a long weekend who has a stop over there enroute home from a 6 months stay in China. Anyone been? I'm looking for something nice and a bit romantic to do as we haven't seen each other for a while, I've got a room reserved at the Hotel Metropole which looks stunning.
Eating seems to be the most exciting thing you can do in Brussels to be honest.
Lots of great restaurants in little streets off the Grand Place.
There's the Atomium, but I've no idea if it's open to the public these days.
I went when I was about 8 and they were planning on pulling it down then!

Been a few times, love it. Eating and drinking is great, the criminals are not so. Be mindful of the people around you and try not to be far away from Grand Place. I had a mate who was beaten up and in hospital for a few days, following a few wrong words. You can also use the Eurostar to Paris/Lille.
Brussels is OK for a night if you stay close to the main area as mentioned. If you can take her on the train to Bruges then there are plenty of romantic and beautiful things to do and see. You'll be able to get a nice romantic restaurant in Brussels but not sure what else you would do there.

Book up the park restaurant, a tad on the expensive side but well worth it , best restaurant in Brussels !
I'd second that - fantastic restaurant. Having said that, I'd also second the suggestion to head to Bruges on the train from Brussels. It's an easy train journey and Bruges is a great place. Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
