Any recommendations? 5 door as two of us and a 12 yr old, ease of picking up and dropping off the car very important.

Thanks in advance... .

I've never had any issue with Brunos. Their headline price is a little hire than Goldcar etc, but Brunos work out much cheaper overall as they don't sting you on extra insurances, fuel policies, charges for extra drivers, charges for car seats etc.....

Try the discount code: special1 on their website, worked last time I tried.

Never had to face a huge queue with them at the airport either, unlike many other companies.

Just come back from there and was recommended Helle Hollis. Slightly more expensive than the in-terminal companies, but so easy to deal with, highly recommended. Transfer bus from the airport to their depot takes all of 3 minutes, if you let them know your flight they are there to meet you. We were in the car and gone within 15 minutes (and that included having a wee hehe) of getting on their bus at the airport - I'd provided all my details through their portal so it was a case of sign here and here's the keys.

I'm keen to know this as well but specifically must be a company that accepts debit cards over credit cards (I don't have one).

Sorry to hijack!

Thank you very much for your input guys. Having considered your suggestions and spent more time than is healthy on Tripadvisor I've decided to book with this lot http://www.bmetcarhire.com/ There were no negative reviews that I could find, loads of positive and they meet you at Arrivals so no faffing about with a child in the heat or on a transfer bus to pick up the car. It looked to me like payment by debit card wasn't an option, but I'll find out when I get there as they take no payment until you pick the car up.

Cheap choice is someone like Goldcar, but don't be fooled by the super low headline prices. Once you add on the necessary insurance, they aren't that much cheaper than anyone else... plus you could queue for 2 hours to get your car.

I use a company called Paris Autocar (5-6 times a year).

Super easy pick up - meet you in arrivals, walk you to your car, fill in the paperwork, and away you go (all done in 10 mins). Very friendly. Cars always spotless and faultless.

Can't recommend them enough.

Those mentioning additional insurances for Goldcar and the like, take out a car hire excess policy in the UK, costs next to nowt - mine is worldwide a costs about £40 for a year, but you can also do per trip if you don't hire very often.

I've found most of the on-airport car hire companies pretty similar at Malaga. Not sure about name and shame rules but there is one with a huge yellow and blue sign based up the road from the airport which I would avoid at all costs - they seemed totally out to rip people off. A girl in the queue near me was almost in tears as she signed up to pay a fortune for additional insurance after scare tactics being shown pictures of damaged cars on the staff member's phone and told how much it would cost her if that happened to her.... I ended up taking about 40 pics of the car (very knackered Panda!) and insisting the guy mark every single mark on the damage sheet before I left!

On my last trip I used cargest, prepaid and it was all inclusive. No pressure at desk to buy anything extra. There's a greeter at airport arrivals and a shuttle bus to depot 2 minutes away. Office is next to malagacar. You will need to leave a 400 euro block on a credit card though, which is the norm now , malagacar and marbesol are around 1200 euros and both take an age to return it.
Card block is in main drivers name so if travelling with someone put them as main driver and you as second if you don't have a credit card.

We went with Arguscarhire....don't.

Booked with Argus, paid in full, including insurance, selected a car from Thrifty, Argus sent us to Hertz.

Hertz charged me an additional £500.69 and both organisations now refuse to refund me the extra on the basis that I signed the rental agreement.

Don't be tempted to use Argus, its a right headache. Having drawn a blank I have had to raise a dispute with my credit card company for the first time.

What a nuisance, sorry to hear that. For future reference if you wish, the people we went with were excellent. I even clumsily dinted the front bumper on a rock - "don't worry it's all covered in the price" - cost me no extra at all.

I used bmetcarhire.com a few weeks ago so thought it only fair to provide some feedback.

They meet you in the arrivals hall (we had to wait about 10 minutes for the guy to come back from dealing with the previous customer) and take you to the car park where the car is. You get the choice to pay card or cash, where they take an impression of the card for anything not covered by their 'all in' insurance which is included in the price (everything except tyres, underside, and windows).

The Peugeot 207 they gave me, although only a year or so old with 50k on the clock, was dented on every panel on the car and in places I couldn't work out you could dent it. And it was missing a hub cab. If you wanted to impress anyone, this car was not going to do it.

Fuel was bring it back with the same as it went out.

Drop-off was leave it in a car park, keys under the seat, and send them a text telling them where in the car park it was.

So it was cheap, pick-up was quick, there was no haggling for hidden extras, and although it was in a horrendous state, it was clean and I didn't have to worry about any more damage when it was parked.
