Have not been in Singapore for about six years, so not current. Will book Jaan for a good meal with a view, but wondering about anywhere with more local cuisine, esp. seafood.

Also..any pleasant bars that are not awful tourist traps like the Long Bar?..

Finally, any ideas on new things to do in Singapore, or of automotive interest?. AM staying at the Mandarin for a while and then at the Fullerton for remainder, so fairly central.

I'm going in a week!

I'll watch this thread for inspiration and also update it with anything particularly good when I get back.

Well I am coming to the end of my SIngapore trip.

Highlights for me have been the China Town / Maxwell Road Hawker Center and the food in general.

I did a bike tour and food tour with these guys - http://singaporecityexplorers.com/ I can't recommend the guide Rene highly enough.

I also did a cookery course which was fun with www.foodplayground.com.sg

Sites wise I really enjoyed the Botanical gardens for a bit of peace and quiet and walking the river looking at the architecture. Marina Bay etc are worth a visit but are really just monuments to consumerism which doesn't really float my boat after a while.

I've basically just been eating my way round the place for the last week though - they do food of all types very well! The Arab area is worth a visit for food - there are a couple of very good cafe style places which are cheap and good.

Traditional street food...go to Satay St...excellent Satay and you sit outside in middle of CBD in a street that turns into seating at 7pm each day https://youtu.be/q1msAlJJcp4

Marina Bay Sand bar but expensive drink do not go to viewing deck as it costs a fair bit and much nicer to go to sky at 57 and watch sunset

boat trip from Merlion up the river takes an hour and a nice way to see some bits

Gardens by Bay. Botanical gardens
Satay by Bay
Free music esplanade theatre outside
Glass houses are worth visiting
Raffles hotel for SS.
Altitude in Raffles Square

Casino (free to enter if with passports)
Arab street (food/blues/cafes)
Museums
Zion Road/Tiong Bahru food courts
Mount Faber and either Sentosa or Kent Ridge
Mustafa centre/Little India
Singapore Zoo, Night safari and bird park

Hey OP. I'm going next month and we absolutely love our food and so have been doing our research.

Booked into Restaurant Andre. Consistently one of the best restaurants in all of Asia. http://www.pinkypiggu.com/2016/04/restaurant-andre...

Excited to go to The Library. Little speakeasy cocktail bar hidden behind a tailors. http://www.asia-bars.com/2013/10/the-library-speak...

Epiphyte looks great for lunch and cakes etc. http://danielfooddiary.com/2016/10/13/epiphyte/

I'm hyped for Atlas bar as I bloody love gin! http://www.realclearlife.com/food-drink/secrets-wo...

Level 33 is the world's highest craft brewery. Nice view too. http://www.level33.com.sg/

I really enjoy the pics and articles at http://www.pinkypiggu.com/ and you can waste a few hours scrolling through and picking out what you like the look of. She's eaten basically everywhere in the City it seems!

I had a thread a couple of months ago where people offered up more ideas too: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Enjoy!

Brewerkz on Clarke Quay does a fantastic IPA, they had a stout too which was nice but the IPA was lovely. Bit touristy I know but was there with work and had little social time so didn't get far.
