Business Travel Tips

I always pack a supply of cereal bars - for when I missed a meal but cannot face another room service club sandwich.
A small med kit (nurofen, aspirin, hayfever tablets, etc) is always in my hand luggage.
Always carry some small denomination dollar bills for tipping doormen, etc.
If you are having a meeting, etc very soon after landing, make sure that everything you need is in your hand luggage in case your case doesn't turn up.
If you travel a lot on business and you are a bloke, you WILL be led into temptation by the ladies. What might seem a very good idea at the time might seem like a Very Bad Thing the next day so you should unload the gun regularly.

Travelling to Tampa a lot, as I do, I have been hit on by some local ladies when I've been out in bars, purely on hearing my accent. You have to be polite, and talking's OK, but never be tempted further!

I work in Asia, most, and I really do mean most; whether married or not, young or old, partake in the offers from the ladies. Some resist at first, but a quick whisky after work and 5 hours later they are walking drunk out of Orchard Towers or Soi Cowboy with a small Asian lady helping them back to their hotel. Or they get a happy-ending massage. Most men return home and it's never spoken of again, but I've known a few that have ended up divorced and buying coffee shops for their new Vietnamese girlfriends (probably to be run by their Vietnamese boyfriends)

I was at Soi Cowboy last Friday night. The ONLY thing I can recommend there is the green curry at The Old Dutch. The rest is a cliche. The ping pong shows are the least erotic thing I've ever seen, only just beating the naked hostess bars. I just get sick of being grabbed by the bar girls!!

...the 1st night I spent in Beijing I was sat round the bar in the Holiday Inn Lido & all was normal. Around 8 I noticed that a number of Chinese girls started to drift in & shuffled up to the guys there, but only guys on one side of the bar. On the 2nd night the same thing happened so I asked someone what was going on. Turned out there was an unwriiten rule between the hotel & the "ladies" that they could tout for business in the bar, but only after 8pm & only on one side of the bar the other side was off limits! As always I was good & stayed on the safe side of the bar
off to China for a 3 day business trip next week, will make sure I sit on the right side of the bar!Actually any advice on do's / don'ts for China - tipping staff, acknowledging clients etc?

LOL. So true. Experienced this in Beijing and Shanghai at Marriotts and Sheratons too! And I've had a few happy ending massages in those hotels too!TheGuru said:
