We have only just arrived so not sure how cool the evenings are.
Yes I saw the review, while nobody likes a bad review I can relate to what was said, the reply wasn't’ The best but that seems to be the typical reply to something negative, the response could have been so much better.
They have forsale signs in the window now.
As for the hire car, it needs to be in sport mode in eco mode it has no idea what gear it needs to be in. As for needing a hire car, we use ours to get us to and from the airport, that’s it. The only time we used a car for more than that was when the wife broke her ankle on the golf course up the side of hesperia dorada
Yes, he seems to not like criticism. Doesnt help the "not in meltdown" argument when you have a meltdown doing it Yes I saw the review, while nobody likes a bad review I can relate to what was said, the reply wasn't’ The best but that seems to be the typical reply to something negative, the response could have been so much better.

I think the money they're looking is mental - something like 180,000 euro? And you dont even own it, thats just the lease, fixtures and fittings and "goodwill".
I wasnt taking the pee about your hire car - we pay for a fiesta / polo sized car and one year we'd a clapped out Clio that had had more hits than the Beatles and last time we'd a bright purple Citroen Cactus. As long as they get me from the airport to Playa Blanca and back i'm happy

Timely spot of the thread.
Currently at the Yazia Suites, going home tomorrow.
Can't really fault the hotel, but most of the rest of the (inhabited) island is an absolute dump.
Still, we came for the weather and it's been mostly great. Evening is jumper or light jacket, but it's been glorious by the pool today. 22c and strong sun.
Yaiza suites is very good. Paying about €150 per night B&B and for that money it's top notch.
Yep,it's not the best!Currently at the Yazia Suites, going home tomorrow.

I didn’t take it that you were dissing the hire car, like you i couldn’t give a crap about the car, normally I go panda size but this time I upgraded .... well picked smart forfour... when you hit the 100kmh dual carriageway stretch as you come out the airport it struggles to hit 60kmph and then goes between 4 and 5 gears
Ice house was 175k last time I looked, it’s worth 100k tops, Simon held the lease originally and other than its name it’s worth nothing

Grand, yes, its quite bemusing turning up and seeing what they'll give you. Apparently a purple Cactus was an "upgrade". Like you we normally opt for small and cheap as theres just the two of us.

Exactly, its one of those "living the dream" aspirational things that some people desire - to run a bar in Spain - and i think the reality for most is somewhat different. I dont envy them doing the hours they do, however i do think some of that is self inflicted. nothing

FWIW we paid €110 for 6 days in a brand new Fiat 500.
Very happy with the VFM (EuropCar)
We've used AutoReisen the last two times. €120ish for a week in a Polo sized 5 door (first time was a new Clio and last time we got the upgrade to the Cactus). The battered Clio was from some bunch of cowboys we used before that. Cant remember their names.Very happy with the VFM (EuropCar)
We're with them again in March - 11 days for €160

I paid 115 euros for the smart, I should have stayed with the 90 euros on the panda.
Current owners of the ice house used to run the kings head in the centre which is now an Indian,Simon had an ice cream van.
I think I’f I was going for a bar in Spain I’d be going for Majorca where the season is just over 6 months. But as you say when you buy into it you really should understand it’s long hours and to make it work you need 8 to 10 people for a bar the size of the ice house.

You'd just burn out doing the hours they're doing, keeping it open 52 weeks a year.I think I’f I was going for a bar in Spain I’d be going for Majorca where the season is just over 6 months. Yes, 6 months a year somewhere maybe, then take the rest of the year off, but 52 weeks
I dont think theres much money at it though - not on the size and scale of your typical resort bar in spain.

It rained last night, it’s windy today but still warm enough to get away with shorts
Yeah i'm going to bring a light jacket with me for the evenings. We're in an apartment down in the resort this time so wont be too far away from it at any point in the evenings RE: grabbing a jacket or jumperGassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
