Can anyone suggest/recomend transport options from the airport to Playa Blanca? We are flying over in Jan and need to get to our hotel (just to the west of centre of PB). We don't need a hire car, so guess its either a cab (how much do you reckon?) or a bus.
Last minute transfers were excellent when I used them to travel to PB before. Although car hire might actually be cheaper. Then you have the option to explore the island. Check out ebookers for hire. LaserTam said:

It’s abour 40 Euro each way. I’ll check my emails to see who we used. One of the companies I used didn’t turn up so there are ones to avoid!LaserTam said:

Whilst you might not "need" a hire car, as has been said, it could work out cheaper. We use Autoreisen - no extras to pay, decent cars, never very fussy on scratches and dings - and i just checked there for Sat 12th Jan -> Sat 19th Jan. They will do a Citroen C3 5 door for £63 all in. Their office is right next to the belts in the luggage arrival area.
It does allow you to explore the island too and get to places most tourists wont bother to go to.

We are flying out to Playa Blanca on Saturday. We use Plus Car and find them very good. We have a Fiat Panda with aircon for 7 days 79euros all in including damage waiver and unlimited mileage.
The weather forecast is not very good, but we should be able to chill no matter. Were there last March and the weather was abysmal then, but were able to do some clifftop walking and sightseeing as it was not too warm. Looking forward to some walking and hopefully sunbathing.

I have to say like yourselves we go there to chill and we do that irrespective of the weather. Whilst its a bonus if its warm and sunny its not a necessity for us.We were there back in March too - weather wasnt fantastic but we had a great time.
Planning on doing La Graciosa island this Christmas. I think from memory of what i read, its the only inhabited island in Europe that doesnt have any roads. No cars allowed on it either.

We used AutoReisen in May. They never checked the car at all, either collecting or returning. Didn't pay much, had a seat estate (we had lot of luggage). Just return it with a full tank.We use Autoreisen - no extras to pay, decent cars, never very fussy on scratches and dings - and i just checked there for Sat 12th Jan -> Sat 19th Jan. If you hire a car no driving in flip-flops. Policia are hot on that on hire cars. Also they go round roundabouts funny, you stay in the outside lane and go all the way around.

Apparently the roundabout scenario is a Spanish thing. I got caught out by driving on the inside and couldn't understand why everyone else was on the outside. Much horn blowing let me know I had done something wrong when I tried to manoeuvre across for the exit. I ended up going all the way round again and getting in the outside lane before the exit I needed. It did seem strange and of course going the 'wrong' way round did not help. Another vote for Autoreisen, I’ve used them loads of times, great for pick up and drop off as they are 50m from the terminal. I usually get a little auto (Ibiza last time) as I find it easier not having to change gear with the wrong hand The roads are very good and it’s easy to find your way around, it’s about 30/40 minutes from the airport to PB, its pretty much one road all the way.
We always hire a car too, its just as cheap as transfers and you can leave at your own pace when going back to the airport. PB is really easy to get to. We always use Plus Car and its similar to a transfer. We did use Suntransfers once and they were very good, you usually end up with a 20 seat minibus all to yourself.
Another vote for car hire, it's very cheap here, we have used Autoreisen, Plus Car and Cicar, all very similar prices, and as has been said it's cheaper than transfer company or taxi. I did see an Alfa Guilia Q4 Velloce in the Cabrera car park today but at 43 euros a day it's hard to justify. Seat Leon is 89 euros for the week, and it's fine for pootling about to shops etc

The weather in Lanzarote has been very strange this year, even the height of summer wasn’t great.
Think weather this year over Europe has been a bit strange TBH, we have been in Menorca, Portugal and now Lanzarote in the last few months and it's been pretty unsettled. Best holiday weather we had this year was a weeks camping in the lakes in June, was actually too hot.Edited by ninepoint2 on Thursday 15th November 00:00

We used Cicar last year, very easy and pleasant on arrival, just gave me the keys, and said bring it back as near to the slot you picked it up from, and that was it, brought it back, gave them the keys, they asked if all was okay, I said yes, and that was it.Only downside, and that wasn’t their fault, was that it was a six speed Fiat Stilo, and I hate manuals, I’m auto all the way, drove me nuts, but I handed it over to my wife after driving to the villa, she also won’t buy a stick shift, but she bit the bullet.

Not sure it would have been a Stilo, they stopped making them around 2007 I think, our no 1 son still runs a 2006 3 door and TBF it's not that bad reallyOnly downside, and that wasn’t their fault, was that it was a six speed Fiat Stilo, and I hate manuals, I’m auto all the way, drove me nuts, but I handed it over to my wife after driving to the villa, she also won’t buy a stick shift, but she bit the bullet.
