I've always been tempted to try the one bar right in the marina, we have been there during the day but never the evening. I've spent an afternoon on the red wine in Lanis snack bar too .....
The bar with the white seats at the marina in the centre plays music and does a wide range of gin's (and beers / cocktails too)

Well I’m in the Ice House now with Mrs DS - I predict carnage as her G&T is massive.

Going to try the Indian next door as the smell has set me off...

OK cool. Is it an OK place to be? I'm not really overly fussy, to be honest, we go out of school holidays to avoid people with tattoos and screaming children as far as possible. If the pool facilities are empty enough to use then fair enough, otherwise we will walk to the beach.

Any recommendations for decent places to eat and drink round there?
Breakfast, for example?
Suggestions welcome.

I was considering renting a scooter with a decent sized engine (we both have full licences) however they look to be more expensive than cars to rent
Recently come back from this resort. The resorts breakfasts are highly recommended, great choice and as much as you can eat. If you're self catering you can pay £7 a go. Other meals were rubbish but brekky was great.

It’s my table now!!

The Indian was excellent - as you say outside of the UK they’re usually rubbish, though I’ve found a couple in Spain near Gib where I work that are also top hole.

The sea front with the restaurants is all very nice.

Daemon - hotel - the reception gives an awful first impression. The rest is ok and rooms are very clean. Love all the small pools dotted around. Off season so no kids beyond toddler age so no noise.

Best bit is you can take inflatables in the pools so I’m going to get a giant inflatable lobster.

We're in Puerto Calero right now. Got a fantastic villa 5 mins walk from the marina. Weather is perfect, 25 C with a few clouds but no rain forecast and building to 29 C later in the week. Just a slight breeze currently which takes the edge off the heat of the sun.

The marina here has a good selection of restaurants and a couple of bars. It's pretty quiet, which is what we like. We looked at Playa Blanca and almost booked a villa there, but after going there yesterday and taking a look at where it was, I'm very glad I spent a bit more on the one we're in.

Al in all, very happy and relaxed...

I'm pleasantly surprised at the resort - very clean, plenty of nice places to eat and drink, lovely promenade area. We booked a last minute cheap deal so I’m happy enough.

The one thing that has shocked me though is the British here - they’re so fat! It’s incredible. And so Council. And don’t get me started on the tattooes! God above - I don’t get too involved with “the public”, especially wearing little clothing - but the tattoos. And it’s only the British. Mrs DS and I are playing “spot the tattoo free Brit (ie us)”. Horrific fashion.

On the upside I am quite partial to fat tattooed Council birds - and there is a bewildering choice of them here in swimsuits and bikinis. Fantastic. God bless my sunglasses. Mrs DS keeps slapping me.

Fat English and Irish Chavs absolutely love Lanzarote. Cheap beer and those revolting all day Gutbuster breakfasts and all u can eat Chinese buffets and pile it high Granny Smith roast dinners are absolute catnip to the mouth breathers.

Just think yourself lucky you're in Playa Blanca and not Puerto del Carmen or Costa Teguise.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

We've been to Costa Tequise three times now (In January) and not seen any sign of chavs anywhere.

Just decent types on holiday with their families...lovely clean resort too...(If a little windy)

Maybe it's different in Summer?

I think thats the difference - in Summer it is frequented by loads of chav families.

I'm in Playa Blanca at the minute and whilst, if you were a chav, you could find like minded individuals in certain bars and restaurants if you put your (limited) mind to it, predominantly its older couples here enjoying the winter sun.

Also, i dont get the sniffy "i dont like it because of the lack of culture" - (a) its a fking spanish occupied volcanic rock off the coast of Africa and up until 50 years ago the handful of thousand residents at the time spent their days fishing and herding goats around mountains - what the fk were you expecting??? I come here for winter sun and peace and quiet. We do "culture" in places like Krakow (earlier in the year), Dubrovnik and Split (which is where we're planning next). Plenty of other places for "culture" - if thats really you're expectation of a holiday.

Mind you don't confuse the giant inflatable lobster with the fat, sunburnt Brit flopping around the poolside.

Are you?

We are in the Ice House - I gave him a challenge to make me a decent cocktail as everywhere else has been quite poor on the alcohol content. These are excellent.

Chacho have recently changed their opening hours. They now don’t open until 1700 in the week and I think a bit earlier at weekends.
