Tit in the office
Discussion
Afternoon.
I know Ryanair get a lot of stick - wrongly so in my opinion, if you follow their rules its a cheap flight. If you book a seat / bag buy a meal yes it costs more than the ticket but it's still cheap. Cheaper than a train in most cases.
Anyhow, tit in the office has complained to Ryanair about his flight experience back from Europe.
Basically he wanted to check in his hand luggage on the way back upon arrival at the airport. Of course Ryanair said there would be a charge. His point was Ryanair will have to put some bags in the hold anyway (full flight) so he is doing them a favour by offering his bags upfront for free check in.They refused.
I pointed out why would / should he get free checked in bags on arrival and not at the gate where they usually ask for bags to be offered voluntarily. He says 'because I have a toddler and its difficult to manage her and have bags to carry in the airport (and Ryanair should be sympathetic to that whilst he waits for his flight). 'And we paid hundreds of pounds as it was July'.
So, he's using that as a basis for complaint to Ryanair. I now get hard stares for not being sympathetic to his plight.
Am I missing something here??

You missed that he is a dick ... other than that nothing
His argue meant is pathetic and even BA on short haul charge for bags upfront but do offer free checking at the gate if theylilleg have too many cabin bags ... it's not a 100% given
I think tit is not storing enough a term though

I'm sure Ryanair will carefully consider his complaint, meteculiously weighing up competing arguments against their stated policies, speak to all those ground staff involved to see if the matter was dealt with properly....or they might just delete his email. I'm not sure Ryanair even have a customer complaints department I occasionally fly Ryanair and have never had a problem because I understand they are cheap for a reason; I set my expectations low and accept that you need to pay for additional services.

His point it they enforce or ignore the rules as they see fit and he is absolutely spot on about that.
I gave up on them long ago, after they took the piss too many times.
Not really, hes effectively asking for luggage concierge for free whilst he browses the airport lounge with his toddler free of the inconvenience of baggage and trying to twist Ryanair's policy to suit himself. I gave up on them long ago, after they took the piss too many times.

His complaint is groundless, but he does make a valid point if you think about it logically.
Assuming he is not at the front of the queue when boarding, his overhead luggage would end up in the hold anyway (for free), so what difference does it really make to the airline?
In a single word, precedence.Assuming he is not at the front of the queue when boarding, his overhead luggage would end up in the hold anyway (for free), so what difference does it really make to the airline?
They do it for him, then the person behind him in the queue wants it too, or office Tit turns up at the airport next time and says "you let me do it last time", and it delays another checkin desk.
The more they do something like that, the harder it becomes to apply the rule to anybody.

Just to be devils advocate (and no, i'm not the tit in the office, it's business class for me thank you!)
On my last BA flight an email went out to HBO passengers suggesting that as it was a full flight, they may want to put their hand luggage in the hold. To do this, please go to check-in area B (ie, before security!) - and no charge.
Perhaps, just perhaps, he's had that on other airlines, and thought Ryanair might do the same, saving boarding time at the gate.
Or he's just a tit.
But whatever, Ryanair will just tell him to do one, so no harm to anyone else
