Naples - whats it like ?

anyone recommend a nice hotel < £250 between Naples & Rome along the coast? something cliff top (if there is one) if possible,

just the one night left to book for on the way back to airport from Amalfi..

I visit Naples every year,usually in September.
A couple of days and then a ferry to Ischia.
My wife and I enjoy the grittiness of Naples and the hustle and bustle,albeit not for everyone.
The contrast with Ischia,which is laid back,makes a nice contrast.

I heard that Ischia is Naples-by-the Sea, meaning it's where all the locals go and have their holiday homes.

Actually, we spent a nice day trip to Ischia from Sorrento, seems a very nice place to be based and there's some interesting places to visit.

Can't help much with Naples, Italy, landed there once, rented a Fiat, and drove to a rented villa in Battipaglia, only went to Naples the day we flew home, seemed okay to me.
Naples, FL on the other hand, is a great place, Fifth Avenue is like a mini Rodeo Drive, Tin City has some quirky little stores, and good fish restaurants.
Lots of upscale restaurants on The Tamiami Trail in Naples FL.

Naples. Dog st, graffiti, errrrrm and the train station to get out.

Went there in 1972, school, was crap.
Went there for work 1993, was now dirty smelly and still crap.
Went there wife when caravanning around, stayed at Pompeii, trained around to Naples, walked around for 2 hrs, wife says lets get T F outta here........around the bay to Sorrento!
