Looking at Manchester to Crete August 2018 with Ryanair.

I figure by then they will have things sorted, and the summer Med routes are the least likely to be culled.

thoughts..........

It's the package holiday side of the business that's struggling. It looks like the airline itself is fine. Only 100,000 of its 6.3m passengers were on package holidays last year according to the BBC article. Monarch treats its pilots well so they'd be unlikely to want to work for Ryanair!

After looking at flights for February half term from Leeds/Bradford took the plunge and booked 4 seats to Tenerife with Ryanair, huge variation in prices between the budget airlines from all the northwest airports and my past experiences with Ryanair flights have been okay.
Hopefully by then they'll have sorted their st out!

I reckon some on this thread are underestimating the mugging fool O'Leary's PR skills. Aside from the initial cock up every stage of this will have been carefully managed. They were always going to meet their obligations, unless they could get away with it. There has been no climb down, just sticking to the plan. Just like there was never an intention to charge anyone for using the toilet, just masses of free publicity.

I disagree on that. Booking on other airlines was resisted, but I suspect that they did not expect a very public kicking from the CAA. Highly unusual.

Also they weren't going to release the first round of cancelled flights until pressed.

Just booked my holiday 1st week of October. Purposefully paid extra to avoid Ryanair, £24 extra each to fly Monarch...

There are plenty of budget carriers that aren't as big a clusterfk.
Have Monarch now resolved all their financial difficulties..........

I reckon he had run through all possible scenarios and very little has come as a surprise since the first announcement that there were going to be cancellations.

Yeah, I got it wrong too. Really sad, just before I came away on holiday I was chatting to a few Monarch pilots who were on their pre command course at work. One of them was going on holiday after the course so I guess he will be away in Greece with no job to return to. Very professional guys and girls and there's no shortage of airlines operating A320's out there so hopefully they'll all find work asap.

no it wasn't there is no game they got caught out, Ryanair have always treated there customers like s but as the shareholders in the past have let it, but interestingly after this recent the shareholders are actual calling for the customers to be treated better.

if you think that then there is no way to change your mind but this isn't good pr, share price has lost nearly 10% in a month, the shareholders are getting nervous now.

I am reminded of 'Any publicity is good publicity'.
Although O'Leary may have gone a bit too far overboard on this occasion, any significant investor will recognise that it's an organisation with good potential peaks and troughs. Many will be looking to buy on the dip.
It will be just a small blip in their Annual Accounts.
