New car delivery
Discussion
Hey Folks,
About to take delivery of a new car hopefully this week,
It’s a contract hire from a main dealer.
Is it normal for a dealer to want to drive a car over 700 miles to deliver the car ?
I did ask if it would be done on a transporter but they weren’t willing to do this.
In the past I have had contract hires and delivery has only been within 200 miles or so so it was always driven by a driver.
Is it normal practice to drive a car such a long distance, surely it’s not classed as a new car at that point

Who orders a car from a dealer 700 miles away?
If you really want to have delivery mileage on it when you get it, go pick it up yourself.
Anyone that uses carwow or leases, they tend to come from dealers miles away. My South Wales car was delivered and registered in Cheshire If you really want to have delivery mileage on it when you get it, go pick it up yourself.

Ehhhm in this case 700m IS delivery mileage. If you really want to have delivery mileage on it when you get it, go pick it up yourself.
It's a lease car, as said your contracted miles do not include the delivered ones. It's not you car so who cares how it gets there as long as it's in good order.

700 miles !
I bought a (used) car from 300 miles away and my friends / family thought I was mental (I went to fetch it and p/x old car etc).
Some poor sod from the dealer is going to have a crazy drive down / flight back !
It won’t be someone from the dealer, it’ll be a driver from an outside company and if they are any good with their logistics the driver will have another job lined up fairly local to the drop off pointI bought a (used) car from 300 miles away and my friends / family thought I was mental (I went to fetch it and p/x old car etc).
