Try Sani resort on halkadiki - awesome for kids!

£34,000 for 2 weeks beach front in July with 2 kids

You could buy Corfu for that much!

Note is made of the cheaper room at £12k
Porto Sani is the (very) posh end. Try the Sani Beach for a more sane Sani.

We've stayed in Sani Club, and really enjoyed it. As mentioned, the place is excellent at distracting kids.

Discovered Pefkos on Rhodes and now been back 4 times. Small enough to become a regular at the various bars and restaurants, close to the beach and excursions to Lindos and Rhodes easy by the local bus.
Trying Corfu in September for a different experience - I'm told it's greener.
Would happily go back to Pefkos if I could find a vacancy as people book year on year, same times, same hotels and apartments.

Hi,

We tried Corfu last year and we also have 4 kids. We stayed in this villa and had an incredible holiday.

You can see my last review

We're finding it tough to match this villa for the money

Cheers
Cal
Booked this very villa smile

Thanks for the recommendation.
That's three of us enjoyed the Mega barbeque
We haven't actually been yet, we're there late august smile

We could only get 9 nights as it was fully booked to that point. Luckily it's an early morning flight out, and a late flight back so we don't lose too much of the holiday.

Busy at work so just want a chill holiday, this looks perfect.

Currently staying here in Kos, lovely hotel and great food etc, no scrum for the sun loungers either!

Off on a cruise in 3 weeks to take in some more of Greece including Athens, santaorini, Mykonos and Crete

Should be nice and quiet, and you'll get a real flavour of how different each island is.

If you're looking for somewhere quiet, Aegina is (or certainly was) great. We flew to Athens, then got a ferry from Piraeus to Aegina. It wa a two star all-inclusive through XL Airways (now defunct).

What was good about Aegina, was that without its own airport everything about the island was really laid back. We hired a couple of mopeds at £3/day (This was about 2002 or 2003) and rode around whole island on the near empty roads.

Another very enjoyable holiday was at the R/C Hotel in Corfu. This caters for R/C model flyers, and they hire out models for the week, and provide tuition if you are not already competent. Its a good way of extending the flying season when its cold and wet at home. I paid for R/C helicopter lessons, and was just about able to hover one by the end of the stay.

Crete was nice, we stayed near Rethyamon. Up towards Malia you could rent canoes and pedalos to go up the 'Turtle River'. I didn't hold out much hope of seeing a turtle, so was most surprised when in amongst the water lillies some way upstream, I heard tap-tap-tap on the side of the canoe, only to find loads of turtles knocking against it.

Rhodes was good too. The Rhodos Maris Hotel was a great place to take children. All inclusive, loads of activities, and I had an hour on a Dart catamaran in strong wind. We hired a car for the week, as it wasn't hugely dearer than paying the taxi transfers from the airport. Having said that, we only used the car on a couple of days as the children were quite happy staying at the hotel.

In summary. Greece is brilliant.

It's brilliant now. Imagine how brilliant it was when it was 800,000,000 drachma to the pound.

Used to go to Zante a couple of times a year (Tsilivi) but it’s a bit too busy now. Currently in Syvota on the Greek mainland and it’s lovely- some nice Villas, lively port village in the evening. Been to a few places with teenage sons over the last few years, Lemnos, Lesbos, Kos, Crete, Halkadiki, Corfu. All have their good points and to be honest I can’t really find anything negative to say about Greece. A bit dearer than it used to be but still good value- decent meal out last night with wine for three was around €40.
My eldest was in Mykonos a few weeks ago and whilst lovely it is very expensive in the main town- €100+ for a meal for two at some of the decent restaurants.
