Ridiculous decision given issues in Spain are pretty much confined to Madrid and Barcelona.... very little down here in the South.
Aren't the regional governments within Spain - at least the Canary and Balearic islands - in discussions with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office about exemptions?

If it's Southern mainland Spain, the holiday refund situation is clear: the FCO says no non-essential travel, hence a full refund.

confused But if it's to the Canaries or Balearics: holidays are OK, but you must self-isolate for a fortnight on return to Blighty. So, you've no right to a refund – even if you can't go because self-isolation would delay you from returning to work.

The money isn’t an issue... credits already promised by the relevant airlines.

It’s the disruption to our plans for little apparent reason... would have been nice to see the person I’m married to after 6 months apart... we saw more of each other when she was living/working in Miami/Nassau.

Ryanair and others are still flying so no cancellation or refund. They will continue to fly unless Spain closes its borders. A claim against travel insurance can be made if you made the booking during the window the FCO advice was positive about Spain. From 4th July I think. If you booked before this (unless it was before the middle of March) then no refund or pay to change the dates. I chose the latter and it cost me £300ish today to changes dates (they bump up the prices too). The alternative was to lose around £550. Some airlines, Easyjet for example, are offering free date changes or vouchers. No airline is required to make a refund in these circumstances.

It appears that these guys are offering travel/medical insurance despite the FCO advice. On the face of it they seem legit but I haven't checked them or their terms out yet.

We flew back to to the Uk yesterday, after viewing the villa we are buying. Pretty pissed off with the self isolation, its worse than lockdown. Cant walk the dogs or go to the shops.
On the plus side, we are happy with the villa. Also it was nice to meet up with Shnozz and his other half, for a few beers.

was supposed to be heading out to house this coming Friday, for 3 weeks
Am on the fence now, I dont want to be stuck at home for 2 weeks when we come back, neither will the wife and kids.
I think I'll be paying to change the flights to same dates in 2021, just suck it up and look forward to next year

Parents UK house sold and will complete on 28th August, so they will be heading out to at that point and are going for spanish residency, and will buy a small property here to keep a holding in UK.

Unless the situation in the Murcia region changes dramatically over the weekend, I plan to drive down to my place late next week for at least 3 weeks. Seems unfair not to run-in the new Range Rover whilst sticking two fingers up to Boris and his cronies 😁

Did you make it down Phil or are you heading down this week? You missed a weather warning for heat last weekend so no bad thing if you were slightly delayed. Cooled to mid 30s again now.

Keep us some of that heat for next month.

Yes, even as not particularly "beachy" people, myself and the Mrs took ourselves down there Sunday to spend the day (well, before the F1 was on..).

Mart - will save you some sun mate - plenty to go around!

FYI
tried to change next weeks flights to August 2021 this morning, found out that none of the airlines are flying into Murcia from October 2020 onwards. unsure whether this will be for good, or just whilst low numbers of flights.

So its Alicante from this point forward.

We moved our Ryanair flights late week to July/Sept 2021.

All booked thanks Shnozz. Specialist COVID medical insurance in place, just in case. Leaving early Thur, stopping off south of Bordeaux for the night. Avoiding Paris, Barcelona and Valencia after taking advice on the La Manga FB pages. Looking forward to driving over the Pyrenees for the first time before heading for Madrid and straight down to Cartagena. Flexiplus on the Chunnel because it’s busy. Can’t wait to visit our place again after 9 months smile

Give us an imaginary wave over at Los Molinos please Phil! My folks' place has had its bathrooms refitted during the lockdown, I should be out there checking them out and more importantly soaking up some rays by the Los Molinos pool right about now.

As it is we are going camping in the New Forest in our 25yo Eriba caravan that was purchased as a festival wagon but has morphed into a bit more. I'm pretty sure if I squint at the horizon it will look just the same!!

The A1 duel carriageway that descends from the Pyrenees is a fabulous piece of road... it’s all just boring motorway after that.

I did Surrey to our place nr marbella (1,643 miles) in 22.5 hours last year.

Thanks PT. I’ll post up a few photo’s of the views when I get there smile

I’m sure you will enjoy your break. Kids love caravan holidays!
