I’m flying from the UK to New York later in the year and one option is to go out Virgin and back from JFK using Delta One.

I know Delta have just changed aircraft to A330’s (same as Virgin fly), however that aside has anyone had first hand experience of Delta One?

We nearly booked it at check-in in 2015. Very glad that we didn't once on the plane.

I really don't understand why virgin code share with someone so rubbish. At least it's not United with their crack head stewardess.

So what do you want to know? It's just the same as every other American carriers Business Class product. What are you expecting - rose petals scattered before you - a foot massage perhaps? It's just a fking plane ride - not some life-changing event, reserved strictly for the over-privelaged.

I suppose I could go into detail about the quality of the carpet and the fact that the seats go this way and that - and that you get some mediocre grub and free booze, but you know that, right?

Summary - it's nothing to brag about.

Yes I have ..... and about to do the same Thursday (Out on Virgin Tin, back Delta tin)

Checkout trip reports on V-Flyer website V-Flyer DeltaOne Trip Report

Virgin is definitely a nicer place - but if flying night time you'll be asleep hopefully for most of it - Deltaone lie flat bed is a bit narrower, but more comfortable duvet/pillow vs Virgin.

Ultimately New York is 6.5/7 hrs. One thing re JFK - Delta Clubhouse is dire, Virgin Clubhouse is far nicer - but as long as your booking is originally Virgin - even if flying back Delta you can still use the Virgin Clubhouse !!

Virgin have just been updating their A330 Upper suites - and also have the Bar on-board vs. Delta whose suites are likely showing a bit of wear and tear.

Thanks for your reply, what a helpful and informative post thumbup

If I wanted to brag I would - but I'm not, I'm simply asking a question about one airline product v another, perhaps that was lost in translation.

Exactly the type of reply I'm after, many thanks.

Think I'll stick with Virgin.

We can and will do, flying Delta opened up a few additional time slots that may have helped with our schedule but having flown [brag]Virgin Upper[/brag] on [brag]numerous occasions[/brag] we'll do the same again.

One plus of delta is the seats face the window as opposed to virgin UC facing inwards which I always found weird and don’t particularly like.

You get clubhouse access with both.
Delta has the standard US carrier sky hags vs virgins what always seems like giggling girls if that makes a difference.
Oh and a quality tumi amenity kit on delta too.

Maybe because Delta owns 49% of Virgin Atlantic?

. . . & I'll take Delta over Virgin any time!

Is there a particular reason you are so bitter and aggressive or does it come naturally.........................

Honestly, I'm neither. I feel the original post was at best vague. It's kind of like asking, "I'm traveling on the underground from Barking to Aldgate East - I tend to use the District Line, but has anybody had any REAL WORLD experience of the Hammersmith and City line?"

I spend a disproportionate part of my life traveling by air for my work. It is only different from sitting on a train or a limo bus, because it is not in contact with the ground. The closer you are to the pointy end (generally) the less tiresome it becomes. Comparing two virtually identical products (as in this case) is somewhat pointless in my opinion.

In reference to my phrase, "It's nothing to brag about", I was attempting to convey my view that "It ain't all that", or it's "Nothing to write home about" - rather than an accusation that the OP was bragging about his travel plans - which based on his subsequent response, leads me to suspect that maybe he was.... but I digress.

The post wasn’t vague at all and I certainly wasn’t bragging. I was asking a question in the ‘travel and holidays’ forum but perhaps that little nugget went over your head.....I’ve never flown Delta hence the question about the two as a direct comparison. Bearing in mind I’m sure there’s sufficient between the two products that a comparison would be good and interesting. It may have passed you by that airlines spend a small fortune trying to tempt people to fly with them rather than the competitors but clearly you’re not aware of that little fact, Remember not all V8 petrol engines are equal but they all do pretty much the same job as you well know.

I certainly don’t feel the need to brag about spending money, I’m very secure in my life and spending habits but thanks for the thought anyway. As it happens my Mrs asked me to post and if you ever met her you wouldn’t find a more down-to-earth non-bragger anywhere. She just likes to be thorough when spending our hard earned funds.

I can only assume you only fly at the back and have a dislike for those of us who work hard and choose to spend their own money on a better seat........that’s our choice and it happens in life. No doubt you’ll now say you are always up the front, a frequent flyer with gazzilions of miles under your belt. If that is the case a more informative post like others would have been helpful rather than make yourself look rather bitter and miserable - as has once been said if you’ve nothing constructive to say then it’s best to keep your mouth closed. However I think it’s clear you’ve never been up front otherwise you would have gone into more detail rather than simply slagging it off.........envy is clearly tearing you up inside isn’t it laugh

Anyway, it’s booked now and thanks to those who did post positively.

I’m signing off this thread now so bye bye, you can go and live your miserable and aggressive life by yourself, hope you have fun byebye
