update to this

Went to Nashville a couple of weeks ago as part of a roadtrip. Only spent a night there and thought it was great fun. Plenty of places to eat and drink, loads of live music. Would defo go back.

Drove to Memphis, boring drive only broken up with a stop at Jackson. Thought Memphis wasn't quite as good but didn't really have time to explore much. Got plenty of advice from people not to venture off the tourist area etc so maybe went with a clouded judgement. Thought Beale Street was decent, some good bars etc but not quite as good as Nashville. A couple of the larger bars on Beale St looked like they had shut down, but there was also a classic car rally on in the evening and two rows of nice vintage american cars.

I'd say both worth a visit for the BBQ ribs alone, but for me Nashville wins! Also drove around NJ, Philadelphia, PA and Atlantic City as part of the trip

My gf is from Jackson (about half way between Memphis and Nashville). We plan to go over in October for a week, then drive to Orlando for a week for work/play. I'm a huge vintage Country music and Rockabilly fan, can't wait! Although meeting her parents will be interesting.

ETA and the Casey Jones museum. Apparently it's not great but the restaurant is decent.

We stayed at the Indigo which was very handy and with a good breakfast spot nearby. Couldn’t fault it.

Just keep walking until you hear some music you like would be my advice. I would suggest going to FGL house if the weather is nice as they’ve got a decent roof terrace that you can still enjoy the live music from.

In addition to my post last year I did find another good burger joint during my 3 month stay from October to January.

Simple, no nonsense burgers.

I did Nashville from New York to LA , did 2 nights, 4 th July was great. Simply walk and quite agree, if you hear music, go in.

I stayed at the Hermitage, very nice indeed.
