Trip on the paddle steamer, which is surprisingly spritely for an old thing. A nice evening run would be lovely.

Now that is new (to me) Wouldn't mind going on that.

This thread is tempting me to look at Weymouth nfor next year's holiday. However, there is the dreaded British Weather....

Weymouth does seem to have its own microclimate, its often really rubbish elsewhere but rather nice & sunny down there. I'm always down there windsurfing at Bowleaze, Osmington or Portland. Have had calls from home to say we are flooded at home 30m away & I got sunburnt in the sun all day. Also when the last eclipse occured we were out on the boat in stunning weather just down the coast, the REST of the UK missed it due to pants weather, except us we were the only people to see it I reckon, with a big bank of cloud in the distance.

However, the town itself is the pitts, full of druggies, teenage mums & is just the epitome of the worst of the UK. Stay away & the rest of the area is lovely.

Surprised no one has mentioned the Castletown D - Day on Portland. Only small, but fully interactive! You can climb in the tank and play with the machine gun on the jeep. Kids love it.

Fish and chips from King Edwards on the seafront.
Looks good - how was it? The missus is very particular about the quality of her fish and chips.

Exactly the sort of info I need - thanks.

In defence of my home town it is no worse than any other similar sized provincial town outside of commuting distance of a major city, other than having a more than its fair share of homeless (might as well be homeless somewhere with a beach and good weather).

(That said I moved away at 18 to get an education and find work, as did pretty much everyone I went to school with).

The fish and chips were lovely. £7.60 and it fed 2 of us quite comfortably.
