Having driven through most of France over the past few years, the one area that I haven’t visited is the NW corner of France. I have a week or so free, and Looking to get the ferry to Calais and then drive along the coast. I’m looking for suggestions on nice towns or villages along that coastline. We are into seafood, and for places more like nice Cornish type areas, not busy tourist type areas, and certainly not anywhere resembling a French Blackpool. Does anyone have any suggestions, of different places, because we don’t mind staying in a variety of villages/towns. Thanks in anticipation.

I stumbled across Honfleur a couple of weeks ago, just over the river from Le Havre, nice place to spend an evening or two.

...... yes, thanks for that. It was one of the places I had in mind, because I remember reading something about it quite a long time ago. Thank you.

We're just back from Honfleur, it's a lovely place but can get a bit busy so if you are after quiet it may not be what you are after. There are however some great hotels and some fantastic restaurants there.

I remember Mont St Michel from family holidays in the 70s.

I guess it might be a bit too touristy though.

I do like a causeway .

We often stayed near Perros Guirec. Beautiful area with a lot of little towns and villages along the coast. Brittany is the most beautiful part of France.

We usually stayed at the Ranolien campsite and either camped or rented a home there.

Yes, walk down to the old harbour area, masses of restaurants there although I suspect that if you're after haute cuisine, you might need to steer to other parts of the town. The ambience, sitting by the water and people-watching, is very good though. I was there with a couple of mates when I went to make a centenary visit to the WW1 graves of two of my relatives, but I'll be making a return trip with MrsC sometime soon, she'll love it.

The two bridges across from Le Havre are very impressive. One's redolent of the Millau although much much steeper.

We stayed in the Mercure which was 5 mins walk, parking outside the door, and fine if somewhat Travelodge. Not the place to pick if you're after quaint Francaise though!

To the point about Le Touquet above, I've tried to like it several times but never been successful, a point which my travel companions recently also made.
