Pure guess, Is it somewhere Buxton/Macclesfield way on? I feel like I've driven this road before.

Finally think I have it then, if 'dark' is a clue, as in Dark Peak.

You're coming up from Burbage Edge? Knew I'd been past this, I didn't realise it was on foot rather than in the car - I had a run that took me up here last summer.

Im seeing decent sized hills or mountains with snow on them near the coast and either white cliffs or houses at the shore line and green stuff in the foreground so am going to take a punt with.....

mmm, so Scotland or NZ south island were close.
