Utterly ridiculous.
Same week, couple of hundred more (obviously cost of flights too) but I know where I'd rather be

Also, this one is almost same overall cost as Woburn CP including flights, and comes with own tennis court and gym

I'd like to see a cross reference of adults who post lamenting the 'loss' of childhood summers like they had: outside, bikes, friends, turning up just in time for dinner etc who also post they can't imagine their kids going out and actually enjoying themselves with kids their own age, or even worse, suggesting parents who give their kids a bit of freedom are uncaring or unloving.

Some people should take a serious look at them selves. Ideally in the rear view mirror of the Porsche they didn't buy.

We have been a couple of times to woburn and i think once with friends to elvedon.

Its ok and thats it imo, the cost gets to me, the food is utter st, it actually seemed worse this year and i am convinced it comes out of a microwave.
Everything apart from swimming in the overcrowded pool is designed to extract as much as is possible which i suppose as a business is great and if the occupancy is so high then good for them.

I cant explain how i feel but ill try and explain.
A few years ago people used to brag about how much their kitchen was, or their car, or holiday etc, i dont see that much now (possibly because everything is on tick hehe ) but centre parcs sort of feels the same, its as if people go there to make themselves feel middle class and feel like they are having a break away at some luxurious woodland retreat. Maybe thats in my head but i feel like that.

Last time we went to woburn they had built some treehouse type buildings which did look pretty cool, wife checked the cost for june iirc and im sure it was £3900 a week (which im sure is just the 4 days). Insane! Id rather go to the maldives thanks.

It also feels like some kind of final civilisation type scenario, you know everyone else is dead and its just you and these others who are held in this locked encampment. Trying to leave to go out for the day is met with questions and surprise.

if 8 adults then its not that bad...still i wouldnt pay 1800 quid between us for a week at cp.
Same if it's a family of 4 or 2 people. That's for the treehouse.

Those who go in term time, do you not have any problems taking your children out of school for Center Parcs? It doesn’t sound like the sort of thing the school would agree to.

Leaving a what 5 /7 year old for 8 hours in the day all alone no other friends of family round a pool is simply not on. The parents suggesting it is need to really look at themselves.

Now a teen aged is different though 8 hours is gopping.

You are leaving a child without supervision - who might turn out to be an utter nightmare to other families shouting bombing them etc wheres mummy and daddy? Who’s looking after you? Oh I’ve been abandoned - again they like expensive shopping

Just back from a mid week break at Elevden.

As all the kids are grown up we go during school time, once you get away from the centre it’s quiet and relaxing.
Come Friday when we left, families with teenagers started to turn up and the noise ramps up.

The only downside to Elevden is it’s close to Mildenhall and Lakenheath air bases, so between 8am and 5pm you get the roar/rumble of jets, but never see them.

We averaged over 6 miles a day walking without really trying, ate and drank more than I normally do and still lost 3lbs smile

When its 34c outside I would not turn the air con off no, wouldn't even think of it. All I did was keep to speed limits, no sitting with the lorries etc. Careful driving at motorway speed in the R you can get very close to 500 miles out a tank (7.5 Estate so has new seven speed gearbox spins at 2000 rpm at 70mph and I use tesco momentum fuel). If my kids are uncomfortable we stop, tbh they coped very well with the heat we had (the last hot spell when london was 34c we were in the car that day). If you want specifics, car was set to 16c, blower was on 3 bars out of 7 or 8, can't remember how many there are!

When mine were in Primary the head was ok about it if you didn't do it continuously.
It didn't affect our kids work and they performed well at school.

When they went to big school I just rang in sick for them.
This was only twice a year and normally the last day of the half terms so they didn't miss anything important and we returned on the Monday when they were on holiday.
We have done mid term a few times so out of school Friday and Monday with no issues.
They are doing well at school and have excellent attendance rate so a couple of days here and there won't spoil their future prospects smile
At my youngest daughter's school (all girls grammar) it's very common with girl's missing 2 weeks for skiing holidays which IMO is taking the piss.

So not the same price at all then, plus car hire as well.

Well I looked at the second week of half term, when the private schools are still off, but my lot's State school is doing a 2 week half term this year, and a 2 bed at CP is £1500.

I'm now looking at all inclusives in the Canaries including flights at £2000, or a week at a beautiful villa with a pool in Kefalonia for £1500 incl flights and a company I have used before for the car, £130 for the week with completely FULL CDW. Throw a brick through the window when you pick it up and it won't cost any extra.

OK it's a risk with the weather but it does make you wonder how CP gets away with it, but at a quoted 97% booking rate, why would they ever drop their prices?

They would be mad to do so, plus people are just mad enough to pay it.
