Of those 4, your lower level guys will struggle a bit to keep up in St Anton if you all want to ski together. It has green areas of course but if you want to do a bit of a tour it’s a fairly steep resort as a general, albeit not exclusive, statement. VT you could pick routes to suit all, the 3V is huge as you know.

Les Gets would be the best for less challenging all-round terrain. Nightlife ok but less full on than St A or VT.

Is Tinges viable/Chamonix or too intermediate?

Chamonix is generally steep.

All the big combined resorts have something for everyone, but your problem is all staying together if you want to move around the resort a bit rather than do the same few runs repeatedly. That said Tignes is probably a good shout. A bunch of us go every December and occasionally have a beginner or two in the group and they manage most of it.

As someone who does a week in Morzine / Les Gets and a 4 day trip to Austria each year, I’d do Austria for a work do.

Apres is cheaper and better
Mountain food and drink is cheaper
You can fly Lufthansa for great flight times
Getting 4 nights accommodation is easier

We fly out Friday night after a day at work arriving Munich 9/10pm
An 8 seater taxi to resort
4 nights in a B&B or hotel. Don’t bother self catering, it’s a pain to go shopping for breakfast if you making the most of the skiing and apres.
4 full days skiing getting taxi back to Munich at 5pm Tuesday
Arrive home around midnight Tuesday night and back to work Wednesday

So for 2 days off work we get 4 full days skiing.

Resorts that work for this and have decent apres and slopes : Mayrhofen, Kitzbuhel, and Saalbach. Gerlos is good too but apres not quite as good.

As mentioned, St Anton will be tough for less experienced skiers or those who like cruizy blues, and whilst Ischgl is very lively it’s a trek from Munich for the flight times to work.

The Lufthansa flights will be more expensive than EasyJet to Geneva, but you’ll save more than the cost when eating and drinking.

I’m assuming the individual on Green runs will be on blue pretty much after doing one or two green runs to dust the cobwebs away. I’m sure we will support and encourage the weaker ones to try some more challenging stuff.

Are all routes down from Follie Douche or the Moon Raker ski resort at the top of the mountain skiable down (on blue runs)

Re Thor's post, if it's for a weekend then definitely consider transfer times. For example Les Gets will be 50 mins from GVA whereas Tignes and VT are 3 hours or more.

If you're in the PdS you can easily ski all day Sunday and still be home on Sunday night.

Is PDS Ports De solei or Para di ski?

Good should on saving a days leave but I guess that means we could Ski full day Monday too and fly back that day ie 3 days annual leaver with 5 full days skiing we’d night out Monday night back.

Tignes/VDS has a decently large area high up with some long, wide greens which flow into blues to back into the towns (if you find the Borsat Express lift on a piste map you will see the area I mean)

For novices I think that area has a great deal to offer, while giving world beating options for those a bit more competent.

edit: you might also look at the smaller resorts. I am going to Val Cenis which would be fine for a mixed ability group, I only mention it as I bought my 4 day ski pass over the weekend, they are currently quite heavily discounted at the moment - 56 euros plus 13 for insurance. Can't complain for that.

Bargain.

We fly people out on a Thursday, if you get the early flight from LGW you'll be in Morzine by 12ish. You can then ski that afternoon, all day Fri/Sat/Sun and Monday before flying home on the 2135 LGW flight on Monday evening. 4 full days, plus a half if you're keen.

Sunday's are crazy at GVA.

I go to the PDS almost every weekend in the winter - 1910 BA flight from Heathrow on a Friday, and then normally something around 2100 back on a Sunday.

You end up getting to the resort at ~midnight on the Friday night, but can get a full day skiing in on the Sunday. Sunday’s at GVA are busy, but the only real impact was the BA lounge gets really full (and they were upgrading it this summer). I typically find one Sunday night flight goes wrong every year, but it’s not too bad.

I so Saint Gervais for weekends about 4/5 times a year & Follie Douche is all greens back from there.

PDS is Portes du Soleil

If that's where you're wanting, then as previously mentioned pick Morzine over Les Gets, it's much more lively and more central to the ski area. Morzine and Les Gets will be fine for the less experienced for the 4 days, but getting up to Avoriaz opens up even more ski area for those wanting to travel.

You can either buy a lift pass that covers only Morzine & Les Gets or get a more expensive one that covers the whole PdS.

Got dates sorted for a works do 23-27-1/20.

Now narrowing down where.

I’m suggesting
Ischgl
Val Thornes
Les Gets
St Anton.

Group of min 6
Talent - all can ski, though some are needing to progress from green runs where as others are from there up to I believe able to do Reds.
Socialising will be important too
Cost/budget well for some it will be the only ski trip of the year so can afford to go a bit more (my view is no need for crazy budget instead good resort amazing views great snow and skiing lots of fun and banter).

Where should we go ? Would love ski in ski out / idyllic views but might not be available.
Did you consider Les Contamines?

1 hour to GVA, a couple of hotels and places which will take long weekend bookings, all the ski areas are in around the mid station call Signal.

So the 6 of you can all go up together, then either sdki together or split for various degrees of difficulty knowing that you'll all end up at the same place for a mid ski beer/catch up before going off again.

We used to often say to mixed groups "meet back here in an hour and a half" and it worked well.

I do Andorra every weekend through the season - I'm not particularly recommending that as the transfer time is a little long, but I can make it work.

Depending on where you work, it's also worth looking at early morning flights - I fly every Monday morning @ 7am & get into the office (central London) by 9am having benefitted from the time difference. LGW trains into London are pretty good.

As above, I'd likely be looking for a resort with the shortest transfer possible - but so will everyone else.....

Krvavec, Slovenia. Purported to be the closest ski slope to London in terms of travel time, you look down on the local runaway (Ljubljana) from the top of the gondola. It's about a 10 minute drive from the airport.

I'll be there in February, it's a regular destination for me.

What is the transfer time to Avoriaz like ? Also what is that resort like?

About an hour and a half. It's ski in/out. No major nightlife.

Sounds like a great weekend option. What's the skiing like? Where do you stay?
