Thanks, could you PM me his details? I've found some weekends with BASS in Chamonix who have good reviews but could do with options. Added bonus with Cham though is the accomodation is more reasonable too.
And has the best pizza in the alps too

Work trip to Blue Mountain coming up next.

I’d like to bag a cheap pair of skis before I go. Kit hire is expensive here.

Just back from Courcheval skiing the 3 valleys. Wonderful conditions, but clear it hadn’t snowed for a while. Suspect it’ll be good for another week max before some new stuff will be needed.

I know you said you didn't want private but if you're stuck I can put you in touch with a guy in Tignes, not used him myself but he's said to be very good. Probably flexible on days. My link to him is that his wife runs a chalet-hotel in Les Boisses which I stay at regularly.

How are the Alps holding up for snow conditions this season?
After an initial encouraging early season start, it now looks a little dry.

I'm sure that most resorts are fine for the main routes, but hoping for some off piste later in the season.
Off to Mayrhofen on Saturday, and at least a little snow is forecast for the weekend.
Thnx

Just back from the lads 4 days in Sauze / Milky Way. Fantastic weather and surprisingly good snow up above 1400m. Not done this particular weekend before and Fri/Mon were wonderfully quiet but jees there's some speedy locals up from Turin on Sat/Sun. We had a tune up lesson on Friday which was really good (€30 for each of us for 2 hours). Managed to graduate from "Good" to "Very Good" according to Marco. Food ace as always and still great value compared to France. We put in 130km in 3.5 days which is as much as I normally achieve on the family 6 days at half term.

First trip on my newly purchased K2 Konic 78's after renting them last year, continue to be mightily impressed with them - so stable.

Only pisser was not being able to get into London City last night due to the 45 mph cross winds and ending up in Manchester with a hotel & train back today.

Can't wait for Morzine in 4 weeks.

That’s a fairly significant diversion - surely there was a closer airport, but I guess the airline preferred Manchester.......

Not that uncommon when you have high winds. High winds mean bigger gaps between flights and more aborted landings, so things back up. Flights then start getting fuel critical and declaring 'pan' so get priority and usually the shutdown of their target airport to all other traffic until that flights down and safe. Which leads to more delays, more flights getting fuel critical and more airport shutdowns.

When we had a really windy Friday a couple of years back my Edinburgh to City flight took off from Edinburgh, flew south. City closed due to wind. Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted we all at capacity and divirting flights to Southend and Birmingham, so those were both out too. After an hour or so circling Birmingham we got diverted to Manchester...and as we were getting close to Manchester another flight declared 'pan' closing it and we ot diverted...to Edinburgh!

Nobody died and I filed it quietly under "st happens". Did make amuzing viewing on one of the flight tracer apps though.

Looks like a chunk of snow due in the alps later this week and weekend - hopefully should freshen things up a bit.

I have booked to go with the boys back to Val thorens in April but was looking to go with the wife in Feb half term (15th).

Looks like France is off the cards with the threat of strikes and blockades of skiing resorts...

Join me in Slovenia mate, no half term crowds and lots of nice, and cheap, spa hotels and resorts to impress the trouble and strife with.

Nope. Three weeks in the Grand Massif and, apart from some high winds and a couple of stormy days, the conditions have been very enjoyable.
Are you out for the season again Eddie?

Unfortunetly not. I'll be there for the main school holidays, so 6 weeks in total. What about you? Have you taken the same place again in Morillon?

We've got the skiing bug again, we haven't been since my 65th in La Plagne in March 2015 because we weve been busy building houses to sell and the Penthouse to live in for the rest of our lives, my wife wasn't too keen but I talked her into going to Saalbach for Christmas and now we're back in the groove.

I've just booked with Crystal for us to go to Passo Tonale in Italy for my 70th in mid March, we're taking our daughter, son in law and our two grandaughters aged 8 & 4 who have never skied before, they are going to love it just like our kids did when we started tham at a similar age.

On the Saalbach trip my wife had to buy new boots on day two as her almost 30 year old Lange's fell apart, I just about got through the week with mine but the liners are collapsing, the cuffs have fallen off and the powerstraps are broken so they have finally got to go in the bin.

I know that Solutions 4 Feet and Profeet are considered the best around but does anyone know anything about Snolab at Knockhatch in Hailsham, they're very local to me and it would save a lot of travelling if I can get good boots and quality fitting there.

I prefer buying boots in resort as it means I can keep going back if I need minor adjustments

Did you book that yourselves or was it a package?

how are your feet? do you have any issues with them, wide feet/ narrow ankles/ collapsed arch/ poor circulation etc..... ?

if not then i’d just go to your local place and have a look/ try some boots on. I went to my local ellis brigham and got a great service and great fitting boots. my feet were very ‘normal’, some heat moulding of the liners and some custom foot beds/ insoles and they are great.
