Blackpool - I probably wouldn't recommend it
Discussion
Went yesterday, spent most of the day at the sandcastle but when for a walk on the beach as the weather was so nice.
There were some neds “MCing” next to their saxo with the rave music playing full blast, a couple of junkies but apart from that not much sign of anything else you wouldn’t see in a big city.
That’s quite good for Blackpool I think.

I loved the sandcastle back the the late 80's.
Last time I went they had Black Lace doing a permanent kids disco singalong thing and we're doing Agadoo every 10 mins.
I felt sorry for them!
You know what, it's still just as good and isn't as rough around the edges as you'd expect for it's age. Cheap, painless booking system, well staffed, the lockers and pay with wristband system is great-I really can't complain.Last time I went they had Black Lace doing a permanent kids disco singalong thing and we're doing Agadoo every 10 mins.

Only thing I'd say is a lack of shampoo in the showers lets it down and I think it's a bit cheap not letting none paying visitors sit inside the pool area. I suppose that's down to space in peak times though, just means the Mrs needs to pay full whack if she comes along and sits waiting for lunch time with the baby.
Kids bloody love it.
Junior LFB had his first experience of a 'proper' Blackpool night out on Saturday.
He reports it as being hilarious so far (for a 19 year old) assisting paralytic brides to be into their taxis and avoiding the gangs of 5'5" mini-yobs dressed by Lonsdale who seem hell bent on fighting each other.
Sounds lovely

Report carried by the BBC today says that Blackpool has 8 of the top 10 most deprived neighbourhoods in England (though Jaywick came in at No 1, as expected I guess).:-

For those of us who have connnections there it's a combination of factorshttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-49812519
But the mismanagement of local funds is high on the list.
The inability of the council to grasp issues is mind blowingly numb.
The council leader who now spends 50% of his time elsewhere went on the offensive yesterday but it was the usual "tory cuts" baloney.
The latest dream is that there will be a big American type fun park experience being built actually near to the one of the pictures used in that article. many of us strongly suspect it will never see the light of day.
It is all genuinely very sad.
Just had a thought. When I went in 98/99 with my then girlfriend, we walked into a bar on the promenade (I think somewhere between North and Central piers - only remember going up steps off the street to get in there) and all the staff wore tiny white croptops and hotpants. She refused to believe that I just happened to choose that place at random and wouldn't let it go for days afterwards
Don't suppose anyone would have a clue what it was called?

Unfortunately Blackpool is in the news for the wrong reasons again.
It's been getting a bit stabby there of late.

I can't imagine the thought process that finishes with the decision to go to one of the most unsanitary st holes in the country to be with thousands of other people during a global pandemic. RTB said:

There are many problems in Blackpool, mostly to do with local deprivation and a tourist industry which operates at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder, but I'm not sure that I'd call it "unsanitary". Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
