If you're doing hopscotch asking the outer hebredies, you need to allow some flexibility in your schedule. They get big winds out there, especially as we approach autumn, and the ferries do get disrupted by weather.
If you go via Barra, make sure you stop at the airport cafe and watch scheduled planes land. Land on a beach...

Gourock to Dunoon is foot passenger only. To take a car you need to use the Western Ferries “tea tray” that runs between Hunter’s Quay and McInroy’s Point.
