Cambridge - What to see and where to eat?
Discussion
Any of the Cambs Cuisine venues for great food, Millworks, St Johns Chop House, The Tickell in Whittlesford if you're going to Duxford. I'm hearing good things about the Old Bicycle Shop between town and the station too.
Brew House (King Street) or Pint Shop by the Market for very good pub grub. For a fantastic fast-food burger, Steak & Honour near the Corn Exchange is one of the best you'll eat.
Best pub in town is hard to say, The Eagle for the history, there's a few in and around the Mill Road area (also a good place for a curry) especially the Cambridge Blue on Gwydir Street which must have 30+ real ales and over a hundred bottles. The Anchor on Silver Street is a great riverside pub if you get a spot on the terrace, and the Maypole, Baron of Beef, Mitre and King Street Run have always done me well in town. Avoid The Regal - it's a massive Wetherspoons.
Things to do? There's not a much, the city centre and colleges will keep you occupied for a bit, there's an American Cemetery out at Madingley, and Duxford a little further just off the M11. The football team are playing well at the moment, and will kill a couple of hours if they're at home, plus the Wrestlers pub which is a surprisingly good Thai restaurant is out that way too, but it's a 30 minute walk from town.
Fitzwilliam museum is interesting but I've not been for years, and punting is a nice way of seeing the CIty. A walk out to Granchester along the river is a great way of spending a couple of hours if it's nice.

Thanks for the replies.
I suppose in the evening a good Italian, or steak place. Some drinks with live music for afters. Or nice cocktail bars.
I like the idea of a walk to Granchester and lunch at the pub with a few beers. Other than that, anything that is unique to Cambridge, or worth seeing. We generally potter about stopping for a beer every so often. It's meant to be nice weather so good outdoor-based stuff.
Punting is probably a no go!
The hotel has parking, so we'll abandon the car for the weekend. But if there was something worthwhile, we could do it on the way in or out.
My list so far, not that everything will get done...

Best Italian food in Cambridge isn't yet a proper restaurant - Aromi's in two spots just near the Guildhall. Always packed, good gelato, too.
Midsummer House if you want an expensive but very good value experience. There is also Cotto (relocated into the ground floor of The Gonville Hotel). The Cambridge outpost of "The Ivy" (not tried yet) ought to be better than average. No decent Indian restaurants, although a few people like Navadhanya on Newmarker Road. Sticks and Sushi if you want spendy Japanese. Cheaper eats (lots of them) down Mill Road - Turkish, Korean, etc.
