Hire car accident. Canada.
Discussion
Unfortunately on day 5 of our Canadian road trip, some French tt decided to use my hire car to stop instead of his brakes.
Stopped at a roundabout for a few seconds and he just didn’t stop. He admitted full liability and luckily the police were passing so took all details.
My car is still driveable and phoned Avis to fill in accident report and said just bring the car back when due (2nd September) but I can only imagine a lot of hassle now.
I assume I lose the excess (300 dollars) but can I claim that back at all from Frenchie?
No idea how it all works really.
On the plus side, Mont Tremblant in Quebec is stunning!

Bad luck, hopefully it didn't interrupt the rest of your trip too much.
It works much the same way as it would at home. You'll pay the excess up front and Avis will refund it when they are able to recoup their losses. I assume it was a French Canadian in their own car and not another hire car?

Cheers, didn’t cause too much bother, just a couple of hrs trying to sort it out after but all good. Yeah it was a French Canadian in his own car. It works much the same way as it would at home.
