Long live the British holidaymaker
Did you get notification it was coming or did it just appear? Just checked my account, no refund appeared. frown

Had an email early last week saying they were looking at my claim but to be fair it looked a fairly generic send to all.

Money turned up today with no other notice.

The lack of communication is the big thing but I suppose it is a biggie as ATOL claims go.

Hope sorted for you asap

Thanks, the lack of communication is stressing me, keep wondering if I’ve been forgotten, but I guess there’s many claims to get through. I just hope I don’t have to wait much longer.

It stressed me a fair amount as well - we are not talking about small amounts of money are we.
SWMBO paid for another holiday on her credit card at 6am on the day TC went bust - we were due to fly the next day.

I would just make sure you still have all the documentation to hand - i made sure it was on my phone - ready to forward asap if the insurance company query anything. They didn’t with me but I wanted to sure.

Keep the faith & hopefully it will come good soon

I'm quite similar, TC went bust two days before I was due to fly, rebooked with TUI on debit card (used inheritance from my late Dad that I had in savings to go towards a house deposit), was a dream holiday and I knew if I didn't rebook straight away I'd never do it again, luckily managed to fly a day after I was due with TC. Hopefully, I don't have to wait too much longer, I'm worried I've lost all the money from my Dad on holidays but I'm sure it'll all come back soon.

run an airport transfer company up in Scotland, we're feeling the the backlash of the TC saga still, two of our suppliers were major debitors to TC and as such their struggling to make their payments,

and as they say **** flows downhill

not huge amounts in the grand scheme of things but its wiped out our cashflow and nearly put us under a few weeks ago as we still are having problems getting payments out of our suppliers. bloody frustrating and left us in a pinch at the end of whats been a decent year for us otherwise.

Is anybody else still waiting for a refund? Getting very annoyed now. I emailed them on 14 January and had a response the following week asking for proof of payment and the Thomas Cook invoice. I sent that back almost immediately. I’ve had nothing since. There’s a phone number at the bottom of the email which I tried ringing and it says “the office is closed, please ring between 9-5” no matter what time I ring.

We still have a couple of clients awaiting refunds.

The CAA have been pretty useless imo.

The whole TC thing has been a shambles, we (I own a Travel Agency) lost out on thousands in lost hours, thankfully most of our clients have been refunded, the couple that have not are self employed lads who have basically paid for holidays in cash which has never been in a bank so cannot prove where it's come from, very frustrating on their part and for us as we can physically do nothing to chase it up.

The CAA seem to bounce questions back to buy themselves time for example asking repeat questions multiple times.

I have just received a sorry but no refund will be coming email. Booked online with t cook didn't realise the holiday was actually provided by expedia so although I used the original Ryan air flights on the booking instead of booking a different hotel I could have used the original ones I booked. although i can't get in touch with expedia to check this and badger them.

I don't quite follow what happened, but you can email travel@support.expedia.co.uk or call 0203 788 0445.
