Glad you enjoyed it OP. We also had an awesome trip. We ended up going back up to Franschhoek for breakfast and lunch from Camps Bay on separate days we liked the place so much. The Franschhoek pass was great fun to drive even in a Ford Ecosport....

All the food was stunning, I’d struggle to pick a favourite. The social Reverie was an interesting experience and we met some lovely people, very well travelled bunch from all over the world.

Naturally we’ve booked to go back again this year, can’t bloody wait!

The place does draw you back it’s amazing.

We’ve usually spent 2/3 days at Franschhoek on previous trips. Try the motor museum, it’s ace! For food and wine it cannot be beat - like most of the western cape.

What did you think of the Hussar Grill btw?

It was really good and fairly cheap. The service was very attentive and both of our steaks were cooked exactly as ordered. If I’m honest I’ve had a couple of better steaks elsewhere in the world but for the price I really can’t complain. I think I’d try the Butcher Shop at Green Point next time to try and draw a comparison.

Funnily enough I tried the Butcher shop at Green Point last Feb when we were last there. Had a 400g rib eye wagyu and it was the best steak I’ve ever had. It’s a more expensive ‘fine dining’ Hawksmoor type of place so against the value for money at Huzzar Grill it struggles, but the steak was bloody marvellous!

Sorry for the thread hijack OP, but you’ll be going back so worth knowing wink

Good to know. If you’re ever in Vegas try Vic and Anthonys, I’ve still not had a better steak.

Anyway, Cape Town....

I’m over there at the moment. It’s an incredible country. Hiring cars is as cheap as chips too. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the roads and general driving standards.

Weather is alright on the coast (currently near Knysna) but a lot sunnier/warm in CT.

I echo most of the previous suggestions. Franschhoek is lovely too.

Lived there for 5 years and miss it daily... Nothing beats Cape Town in the summer. Place has such a chilled-out vibe.

As for steaks, would highly recommend NV-80 in Green Point....
