They call these approach shoes or trail shoes, but actually they are a great shoe for just going around the hotel and then works out well if yu are going a bit "off road" on holiday . Just like an SUV....

Been using mine for 2 years now and perfect for everything apart from ....

driving.

Sole too thick to give you that connection with the throttle and brake pedal ! smile I know, that is a very PH way of looking at it.

An epic bit of engineering for feet. Love mine.

No brainer, I’ve travelled the world in these, light comfortable, reasonable price and don’t look out of place anywhere ie trainers/sandals look chavish in a posh hotel/golf, combine these with a cheap pair of disposable flip flops and your sorted, oh and you can put them in a washing machine.

Disclaimer: No good for mountain climbing or hiking but there again they are not boots, but thats not general travel.

Been using Karrimors similar to those in the OP for 10+ years.... except they’re 1/4 of the price.

They’ve worked for me from the freezing top of 14,000ft mountains to the Arizona Desert and never had a heat issue.

So good that I only take one pair of shoes on holiday!

I've just got these, and I have to say, I love them.

Extremely comfortable, a good spring in the step, and apparently a good level of water proofing from the goretex. Havent driven in them yet, but have been walking all over japan, seoul, and am now in hong kong. The darker colour scheme makes them better in the evenings too.

I've more or less lived in Merrel Jungle Mocs for the last 20 years - really comfortable, look smart when you need to dress up a bit, but also up for a reasonable trail walk.

Sports Direct link for full anti-Stovey effect biggrin

I don’t do 5 star restaurants or beach holidays, so these are great all rounders for me.

I've been wearing a pair of these every day, in most situations (apart from a wedding) including travel for the whole year outside of summer (when they are a little warm)

https://www.salomon.com/en-gb/shop-emea/product/ac...

Can't fault them on comfort nor traction in wet/slippery conditions, they really do seem to do everything well. I might replace them soon, they are getting a little whiffy

I use these, rufty tufty, waterproof, smart and comfortable for driving. If I'm expecting warm weather a pair of canvas shoes will be slipped into my luggage too.

Love those middle-aged guys you see at airports, heading off on city breaks and beach holidays in footwear and trousers suitable for an Eiger ascent.

None of my holidays include City Breaks or Beach Holidays.... and to be fair, I was wearing a pair of Karrimors when I got off at the Kleine Sheidegg Station smile

Don't be ridiculous. If I'm traveling by air I want the full survival kit. How on earth are you going to cope with emergency situations in flip flops and a flimsy, short/shirt/vape outfit.

I only have two identical pairs of shoes (one usually clean, one dirty). I get that other people need more - work etc. My shoes work fine for every occasion, including 'general travel'. Dirty shoes more often worn than clean.

I'm currently on holiday and some of the clientele share your taste in evening footwear. I confess to being sniffy about 'dressing for dinner' including trainers.

hehe That's reminds me of the other type of geezer you see, esp. in summer, regional airport, charter flight queue, wearing white 3/4 length cargo shorts, white slip-on trainers, preferably Londsdale, and a vest. On the way home swap trainers for flip flops, even if it is below 12C and rainy back in Blighty
