<snip> San Pedro is a Spanish residential town, so everything is open all year round. There are loads of restaurants where you can get great tapas for peanuts, or a 3 course meal for €20. <snip>
Changing the subject away from learning Spanish for a mo....We have a couple of Spanish friends who are into food in a big way. We've been to San Pedro a couple of times with them to places that are going to cost you a bit more than €20, but are worth a visit if you want to push the boat out IMHO.
The first is a place called Sidreria Manolo. It's a bugger to find, but I really liked it. An Asturian cider house that is basically a seafood restaurant sounds a bit odd, but it works. I really like the ritual surrounding drinking cider in Spain. You just have to be careful you don't end up legless. Food was brilliant though. My foodie friends were a bit less impressed - I think they found it a bit rustic.

The second place we went with them was El Ancla on the seafront. Again the food there was brilliant, and the place itself is quite impressive. The bill was astronomical though.

Thanks for that! Will definitely try them out. We have a couple of Spanish friends who are into food in a big way. We've been to San Pedro a couple of times with them to places that are going to cost you a bit more than €20, but are worth a visit if you want to push the boat out IMHO.

We have a some places we go if we want something special...
El Oceana, nr Mijas... amazing location, great wine list/cocktails/atmosphere, but only average food. Great for Sunday lunch, or if you have kids with you.
El Cortijo de Ramiro, nr the Guadalamin hotel... older clientele, fabulous food/wine list, pricey.
Edit.
I checked their websites out, and I know where the 1st one is... it's only about 1 minute from the Indian I use for take aways
