If people haven’t seen as of Saturday the entire UK is now on the German quarantine list for those planning to fly into Germany.

That’s something certainly not considered so far here the destination country quarantining the U.K. not the other way round.

no planned restriction of numbers on lifts.
Strikes me as slightly unwise.
Why ? If there's any restriction on the proximity of people, then you ideally want all the lifts running to help avoid congestion
Definitely this. It's easy enough to say "faces covered on lifts" when most people are wearing buffs anyway, and much better to be sat next to somebody facing in the same direction than crammed in the usual lift queue scrum.
Yes, run all the lifts of course. I meant I thought it was unwise to run lifts fully seated with no distancing. Buffs/scarves won't stop a virus. On a still day anyone infected will have a little fugue around them waiting to be inhaled by the person next door. Masks and nose/moth covers obligatory in La Plagne on the lift and whilst queuing. Vail resorts social distancing on lifts as well.

i have a feeling that those who are scared of catching the virus, really shouldnt be going on a ski holiday and just let those not fussed get on with it

I expect I'll feel safer on the lift than in the queue....

Open chair lifts will probably be a low infection rate; outside and cold weather. Could restrict to single families.

I'd worry more about the large gondolas or apres ski.

I don’t think those not going would be holding those that can back - probably better /emptier slopes - a thank you for those not going really is deserved.

Yes, quite possibly. Best avoid Les Trois Vallees then hehe

Will anywhere be busy though?

now if only those not intending to go because their scared of a virus in which there isnt going to be a cure, would refrain from posting on here, then a thank you will be deserved as opposed to throwing negativity on something people are planning to do and suffer a 2 week quarantine upon return as they can

I think that's a sentiment we all get behind.

I’m with you on that - though news does need to be added.

Helpfully today another poster flagged up about Germany putting U.K. on no entry list. It needs to be a thread about useful practical info else we’re all happy clapping ignoring some sad potential reality.

If you ski in a group (and I think most do) the number of times you are on a lift with a number of people you are not already with is low outside of peak times, when people generally organise them selves so they are sitting together.

scotland!!!! even with the strongest wind and smallest sliver of boiler plate snow, we can still be packed out at the weekends!! and i cannot wait!!!!

i’m going to try and get up north a few times this season they could do with all the business they can get.

I've thought of driving up (Manchester) numerous times but never quite made it.

And if Scotland locks out England tourists - we have these worthy options on our doorstep.

do it!!! get onto www.winterhighland.info once snow starts to fall and the centres get going for accurate/ daily updates from regulars telling you how it is.

also check out the ‘mwis’ (mountain weather information service- i think?!?) forecasts which are usually good for a prediction of what it’s going to be like in the hills.

manchester > scottish slopes is doable as an epic day trip. gonna be some tired driving home tho, so maybe a second driver would help. but you could also just head up super early doors saturday, ski out the saturday, find somewhere (anywhere from stirling north gives circa 2hr drive to ski) cheap to stay over night saturday and then hit a different centre on the sunday or just have a more leisurely drive home sunday.

i mean when you get a good day, it’s pretty awesome.......
