Got the credit today. Looking to book Sept in Greece.

I'm guessing, hoping that if still tits up we just get another credit.

Were due to fly yesterday to Cyprus.

Refund credit code received today.

Can't find anything comparable to transfer too so currently sat on hold

They’re an absolute joke really. Still waiting on a promised refund for 6 weeks now and literally impossible to even call them now. Mental

Yes I've tried to call them to query the invalid refund code I've received. 30 attempted phone calls and they all just cut off instantly.

And I also paid £34 extra for champagne and chocolates on board, subsequent to the original booking, which they've ignored altogether (despite their FAQ stating that it'll be included in the value of the refund credit). So looks like I'll have to get that back via the bank. s.

Yup I actually got through the the Q on first try to call

On hold for 20 minutes then randomly cut off.

The number is now either permanently engaged or 'this users phone is switched off'

Laughable.

I wouldn’t mind if they just said ‘you’ll get your money by XX date’ but they haven’t even done that. 6 weeks of just sitting and waiting.

Guessing their website is a bit overwhelmed as I tried it on the iOS app and it accepted the code without any issues.

So, exactly the same holiday booked for the same dates next year, plus an upgraded room, private taxi and extra luggage allowance. Cost an extra £15 after £400 of upgrades so I guess I should see it as a small win.

I would have loved to tell them to shove it and fought with them for weeks about a refund but seemed a waste of time when we'd have only used the money to pay for a holiday...

We were due to fly last Saturday, having received an email a couple of weeks ago to say we'd get a credit voucher 4 weeks after departure date, I wasn't expecting to hear anything for a while. Today however i recieved a phone call to give me options, either transfer or credit note which would get a 20% bonus and if not used by next May would be turned into a refund. I asked what if I want a cash refund now and she said she can do that, it'll be approx 28 days, so we'll see what happens. Not sure if she'd have offered if I hadn't asked though.

We have rebooked for 2021, a holiday costing twice as much.

Haven't had the credit yet but will get it allocated against next year's.

No point being angry. Our budget this year with TUI was £5k, next year's would be too.

So, f&£k it!! Let's do a BIG BIG holiday next year instead.

Life is too short to get shirty or knickers in a twist.
I’m hearing lots of this (much more expensive for 21 than 20). We must have got lucky. Our base holiday on a like for like basis before any upgrades was only 4% more.

No, we have changed to long-haul with every upgrade.

If we had booked same again it was similar cost (Greece at a TUI Blue in Halkidiki)
Ah sorry, reading in a hurry, thought you meant like for like was double the cost!

We did consider this. We now only have £150 to pay next July in advance of our rebooked holiday, it was tempting to blow another £2k (which we would have spent on a holiday next year anyway originally) and go all out.

I've got a balance of £4k on a £7k holiday to Mexico to pay at the very start of June. I've asked TUI if there is a chance to move or cancel because of the newly imposed 2 week quarantine on return, I don't have 2 weeks holiday entitlement left to sit in quarantine at home!. I'll hang on until the death to pay the balance to see if they make any further statements in the coming days or weeks. If nothing changes, likely I will move it to next year and take the hit on any costs myself. As someone who works in aviation and is feeling the pinch of things right now, I understand how difficult it is for TUI.

let me know how you get on. I'm due to stump up £2.5k next month.

At the minute I can cancel it and lose £450 or move it to next year although I'm not sure when the balance for the remainder would be required.

My wife and I are considering rebooking next year, with this year's cost added on. So a real biggy for our 51st anniversary. There must be lots like me. However, I can't get through. I got excited once, and was on hold. They weren't so generous with me as some on here, and I got cut off after only 8 mins.

I'm going to look around to see the way other travel firms have dealt with their problems and go with the best service.

I can understand their problems, but the feeling I get is that they are deliberately stonewalling.

I'll wave goodbye to my money and look forward to a forward looking travel company next year.

My wife used to work for ABTA. This was some time ago, but she said that most of the high level staff were in it for the free trips.

It's probably much changed now and their main role is to protect the customers.

When I was looking at trustpilot reviews, Jet2 seemed to be handling the refund situation better than TUI. There were still complaints - but it seemed like far less of them.

Thanks for that.

They scored higher in Which? tests than Tui, but then so did everyone else.
