I did a fair bit of moaning myself, but once I had spoken to a person and after I'd waited longer than should be the case, they did process my refund.

I doubt my outcome would have been as good had I waited patiently for them to contact me. Not sure they'll be my first choice for future holidays.
What you did there, I see it! laugh

Well fair play to TUI, just checked my credit card & the cash is sat there. Was actually received last Thursday, same day that I made the call for the refund.

Was happy to moan about them earlier, so now i'm happy to recognise they've done what they said.
Yep called Friday, refund showing today (Tuesday)

Still can't get any joy with this, we rebooked our may 2020 holiday to sept 2020. The original booking was paid in full and the amended booking was £500 ISH cheaper, so that's the refund I'm trying to get back.

I've tried phoning numerous times, been on hold forever, end up going through to useless agents in an Indian call centre with broken English who are no help whatsoever.

I've been told to keep ringing the finance team but that number just says "this line is closed" at all times of the day, I then went back to complain and was given the email address which sends an auto response saying it's not in use.

I've tried twitter, Facebook, and back to calling and trying all the different options, even ones that aren't what I'm ringing about, and still no joy.

This has been ongoing about 8weeks, and to top it all off, I'm probably going to have to do this again when the sept booking is inevitably cancelled or has to be rearranged.

Absolute Shambles!

We've got a booking for Rhodes in Aug, but we are slightly worried about going, wife is Asthmatic and I am not sure I entirely trust TUI not to ram the planes full of people etc

If we wanted to just bump the holiday for a year that sounds pretty easy to do with maybe some cost adjustments? Is it best to call them?

I now have my refund credit note. Should I keep it they will top it up by 20%.

I checked my holiday cost for the same period next year. Surprisingly it's gone up by 20% + £3laugh Pure coincidence I bet. Not.

Now I have to request a cash refund.

I’ve had an email from them today inviting me to pay the balance for our holiday due at the end of August. They made it sound really tempting explaining about the ATOL protection and no charge to change dates (apart from every equivalent holiday next year is loads dearer). Oh, and it will take hours to get through to them on the phone for the privilege of lending them five grand till the whole lot is cancelled and I have to battle for a refund.

No, you’re all right thanks.

Will you not lose a decent chunk by not paying though?

I’ve only paid the low deposit of 4 x £50 = £200 so far. The balance of the deposit was due end of April, but they never got in touch about that.

I’m prepared to sacrifice the £200 if it comes to it rather than have to pay a load more and then fight them to get it back. Either the holiday will be cancelled or they will only be able to offer it all masked up with no food or drink on their planes and then distancing at the resort when you get there, which is not a holiday to me.

What does the T&C's say about not paying, and if you don't what amount you have to pay?

I've looked at mine, hence I'm paying and hoping they cancel

I think I’m on the hook for the full deposit of £800 if I cancel but I can’t see them chasing after me amid the current chaos. By the time they get around to it August will be here and they will be cancelling it themselves. Maybe I’ll even get my £200 back then.

I was due to depart on the 9th of May, was expecting a long wait for refund but received a call on the 12th asking what I wanted to do. Asked for refund and was told it'd take 28 days, was in my account a week later. Can't really grumble at that.

Certainly sounds like they have caught up with themselves which is good news.

We’re flicking around the website to see where to book next but the uncertainty is horrible!

I think it’s unlikely it would be cancelled in August tbh.

Maybe early July. . Depending on what happens with the foreign office travel advice.
Even if it gets allowed by the FCO and the Greeks decide to let us in and the 14 day quarantine on return goes away, we’d still be left with the social distancing mess on the plane and the resort when you get there. I didn’t sign up for two 4 hours flights wearing masks with no food and drink available and then to spend a week dodging around people at the all-inclusive meals and even while just lounging around the pool. Some may be prepared to put up with that, but I’m not and I can’t see Tui trying to force it.

Hmmm, having to stay 2 metres away from other guests?

So, no-one right next to my sun lounger, no-one barging in to me at the buffet, not having to talk to anyone else on holiday? Sounds great, where do I sign up?

Ooooh 4 or 5 whole hours with no alcohol or an overpriced cheese toastie, how will we survive? Get a sandwich from the airport.

A bit of 'hardship' getting there, will make the holiday all the sweeter.

Trust me, Tui will try and force it!

I’m not saying it’s unsurvivable, my point is that you are paying for this as a holiday not some sort of endurance test.

When you finally get there, these places are not setup to have everyone 2 metres apart, certainly not at buffets and pools. It’s just going to be a week of massive spaced out queues and constantly dodging round others. I can get that for free at Sainsbury’s.
