Why even risk going abroad this year even if you can?
Stay in the UK, go to the pubs, eat in the cafes and restaurants, buy tat from the tourist shops etc..
I know the weather isn't always the best but it's 1 year and it will boost the economy no end.
Even later in the year at half term spend a week in the Lakes, Snowdonia or the Peaks.
Go walking, spend long afternoons in the pub in front of the open fire drinking local beers and eat locally produced food in the restaurants.
Visit the cafes for cream teas, homemade cake and hot chocolate! Nothing better

We may not get the choice to go abroad.. Talking to my peer in Austria, they are trying to get locals to stay and holiday locally. Anyone leaving the country that can get a flight out fr vacation, will have to be guaranteed for 2 weeks after arriving back..
I have already heard of places in the UK cancelling bookings on guests, knowing that their establishments will be worth more in the summer.. Going to be interesting how this plays out..

I bought a race van in the days before lockdown, and thought I had to quote Boris spaffed the money up the wall over the next few days as my events business went up the wall which is why I bought it. However like my rowing machine which is now worth three times more than I paid for it apparently I think it was a smart move. A complete fluke.However the issue with going to the UK on holiday is that it is going to be packed if nobody goes abroad. And really expensive.

The demand will derive from the lack of supply of foreign holidays not because people want to stay at home. I'm quite sure most people would rather go abroad and not have to cancel pre-existing holidays, but I just don't think the likes of Spain, France, Greece, Turkey are going to throw open their borders to one of the most affected nations on earth from Covid19.The UK is one of the most affected nations on earth from Covid19. t hole attractions with atrocious weather and truly appalling food that holidays and tourist destinations in the UK already represent? Absolutely fkuck that, I'd rather stay indoors all summer and watch daytime TV.

I'm at a bit of a crunch point. Although my accommodation company have relaxed paying the balance of the holiday from 12 weeks in advance to 6 weeks in advance, I now realise that their terms and conditions otherwise haven't changed, which means that if I want to cancel and only bin the £100 deposit I will need to do so in the next week (although I will have to rely on the Easyjet flights being cancelled). Otherwise I'm liable for paying it all and perhaps getting a voucher or something in return. I wouldn't mind postponing to next year but I hadn't really planned that far ahead yet!
So... do I plough on and pay for the rest and apply for the passports even though it probably won't happen? Or gamble on scrapping it and losing the £100 and risk losing money on the flights? Argh!

I've a boat/yacht booking held with a 50% deposit paid in December'19 for a week in August, Gocek. Turkey
I didn't book flights at the time as they were showing as £600 (for Turkey ffs) and see that the extortionate prices of January have dipped a £100 but still 'steep' considering they may not happen. Will they spike? or fall further..... ?
The Charter Co is doing all it can to say it can be rolled to 2021 etc *if* travel is not feasible and I see others Co's are offering all sorts of boats with all sorts of terms. Will some of them just close for the season and put them back on the hard?
Talk of 'Middle seats empty', will the Summer holiday get rammed as everyone escapes ? or has everyone lost all their money and the package holidays on their arse.... no one knows.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to travel anywhere outside of our own country, whilst this situation with C-19 exists. All travel insurance excludes cover for sickness as a result of the virus, so quite honestly, I would rather be here, than anywhere else in the world until it is eradicated completely!

That’s going to be years. Glad we’re all different.
Personally I think lockdowns will start to be lifted in May and flights starting up (a bit more) in July August.
I think it will likely be possible to go on holiday by air in Europe before the end of the school summer holidays.
My next foreign holiday is planned for the October half term though but I’m hopeful of also going to Crete in the end of summer holidays maybe in August.
