Am I waiting in vain? I ‘m hoping that a tonne of flights will be released for Spain mid to late July early August.

Are you sure you want to go? Read an article yesterday about rolling lockdowns there, masks mandatory outside, on the beach in pools, sounds not fun

Not sure what you read but here on the Costa there are few signs of that. Mask is only mandatory where you cannot socially distance and for that same reason it is a legal requirement to carry them with you. There were a couple of older folk wearing them at the beach yesterday but a tiny percentage of those on the beach. Beach car was serving nice ice cold mohitos. Our pool is open and I have not seen many locally wearing a mask as its easy to socially distance outside of the cities.

The only noticeable time everyone is wearing a mask is in the supermarkets, where you queue to wash your hands with sanitiser on entry and exit, and everyone is masked when in the shop. That, and the flight and airports, are the only time I have had to wear a mask. Even sat inside the bar watching the football last night no one other than the barman is masked.

Aside from that, and remembering to carry it everywhere. Spain feels no real different to how it ever has. I appreciate a large complex hotel with social distancing restrictions might feel different, but other than that, its business as usual in many respects.

The lockdowns are in the N.E. and N.W. There is a risk, of course, that they might extend to other regions depending on what happens but in the same way that might occur in the UK.

Each to their own. But it seems unfair to try and put others off going away especially when it’s based on incorrect information.

Sorry what?

There is an area in lockdown, with all the things I said, so this could happen very easily to one of the tourist areas

I'm not trying to put anyone off but I had a general feeling that abroad would be ok ISH with some distancing etc that BBC article is saying mandatory masks, where was I incorrect?

Yes, two spots in the North that are under lockdown. Spain were understandably draconian with their approach to lockdown given the extent of the problem here and I have no doubt they would resort to similar measures on seeing any increase in areas. I don't think that is a bad thing, however. It says to me that they are not complacent in seeing any rises and not stepping in. If you are a British resident, you would still be able to return to your country in the event of a lockdown in a tourist spot, the same way you were "first time around".

As I say, the picture painted of it being "not fun" is not representative of the reality I am seeing whereby its pretty much normal life, bar for wearing a mask in airports and supermarkets. That said, I wouldn't be rushing to crowded areas or being doing a weekend in Madrid/Barcelona where I should imagine you may as well wear a mask whenever outside your house due to proximity to others. However, away from the cities, its easy enough to go day to day rarely donning one. Getting in the habit of picking it up every time you leave the house takes a little adjustment mind and I have resorted to hanging it on the back of the door now to remind myself.

Greece is now open for UK travellers (from the 15th July). Life in the Ionian is as normal - just VERY quiet. Perfect time to get out there sailing!

When there’s stricter lockdowns in two small areas of Spain.

“ masks mandatory outside, on the beach in pools”, is completely misleading.

Saying “are you sure you want to go” is trying to put him off based on some incorrect information you posted.

Completely misleading?

https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-another-spi...

Are you sure you want to go? Why would I have any desire to put him off, I don't know him

I had an opinion of what it would be like, the 2 articles I've read which state exactly what I'm apparently lying about changed that opinion, I don't know what information he had so posted

Apparently that's really upset you, so for you if suggest a nice long walk off a short pier thumbup

It’s a voluntary quarantine and it will be lifted when we lift ours, as it is a reciprocal agreement.

I have to say that I'm in general agreement with one of you. There are far too many people posting stuff on here as if it were pure gospel, when it's based on some spurious article that they've read that may or may not be 100% factual and may or may not be exaggerating one tiny incident to make the situation look much worse than it actually is. Then there are other people who are actually there, on the ground, and posting stuff about what they've seen with their own eyes.

The latter is very much more useful to most on here, and that's what we want to see. As to the former - well - we can all use google (well most of us can), and we can find these articles for ourselves. If anyone on here thinks the media have been completely level and balanced throughout this entire farce should take a look through all of the news articles from the past 3 months and re-calibrate their thinking.

Yep. As said it was only voluntary for UK visitors to France anyway and will be lifted when the one our side lifts.

After eleventy-billion weeks locked in a London apartment, we've booked a week working away in an AirBnB in Cornwall from the 5th. Now we just pray that the only pub in town opens.... eek
Well we drove down Sunday and there was hardly any traffic. Place is lovely and the locals have all been super friendly. We're set up on the dining room table which we've dragged in front of the view. And the pub is open!

Anyone got a definitive answer to the position where the airline (easyJet) cancels you outbound flight but says nothing about the return leg??
ears

I'm in the same position now. Outbound now cancelled but nothing about the return. The refund request form is quite hard to get to through about a thousand pages of 'are you sure you don't want a voucher?' and says "please note only one online form will be accepted per booking". I know they have to offer a full refund but I don't want to make it harder for myself! Might wait a week and see what happens to the return flight!

What are our thoughts with Portugal?

Myself and a few friends and all the wives and kids book a big villa each October half term, separate bookings for accommodation and flights.

If there is no air bridge in place unlikely to get a refund on villa as they will still technically able to receive us, but a few of the others are unable to afford time off work for 2 week quarantine on return.

We fly out October 23rd, I'm trying to convince them that it will be all sorted by then but they are less optimistic. Balancing payment for villa due next month too.

Covid numbers looked bad (and still look bad) but seems to be reducing again now. Have gov said when they will review air bridges?

So what happened to Portugal?

Sure I read not long ago that they had done well and that those in charge had pointed out that they only had one land border to deal with.

Mind you, we have no land borders yet look at how they feked up here.
