I’m flying home to dubai on weds, with an 8hr transit stop CDG. I would normally leave the airport and go into town for lunch and a stroll. Is this possible with current restrictions?

You will need a negative PCR Test (within 72 hrs of arrival) to enter France.

Also the curfew will apply 9pm - 6am which includes transit time.

Ouch!

But he's right. My least favourite airport on the planet.

i have a valid pcr test, just wondering if that would allow me to re-enter after my walkabout.

CDG is terrible, hence leaving it. when you're flying from burkina faso the luxury of choice is not yours to take.

I think you will need to contact the airline to be sure.

I’m guessing it’s a ‘no’ now then...

I think you are right to assume that you cannot move.

Restaurants are closed, you are only allowed to exercise 1km from home, or shop for essential food items. You need an attestation to leave the building.

8hrs will be purgatory - but better than a dose of Covid.

It is now.

I have some colleagues in Paris who have some magic passes allowing them to go into the office and commute, but there is no sightseeing.

i only chose this route as i wanted to go to a specific shop in the centre plus a moto outfitters close to the airport. 8hrs at CDG is going to be an eternity.

i realise why btw, and don't disagree, we had 3mths of lockdown in uae. just i'd take 8hrs in a uk regional airport over CDG.

Yep, truly a grim place to be.

Having just had Covid, I'd prefer it to 8 hours in CDG.

Are there any airport hotels you can book a day room, put your feet up have a shower and a snooze. Bit of room service and 8 hours will vanish?

nope, the transit hotels are closed, as are some of the restaurants meaning its pret or the magazine shop. there's the chaise/bed things in the transit area so i guess its xanax time.

If so, the BA one is Cathay's lounge I think - Not sure if they are open or not but they have a noodle station where they make you stir fried noodles as you like... one of the few plus points of CDG

The Pullman hotel looks open - I’ve used it in the past.

Is that accessible airside? The lounges, airport hotel (yotel and the new one they have) plus half the f&b outlets were closed. I managed a brief snooze on those orange chaise longue things but a proper bed would be most welcome.

I’ll ask when I arrive, thanks for the info.

Ah, no it was landslide but walkable from the terminal.
The Air France lounges are ok if you can get in - some have been refurbished recently. Not palatial but functional.
